[P] Big feelings. Sorry for the... tirade? Is that what it was, or am I thinking of a cavalcade? A bilious stream of words with no foreseeble end until I run out of things to say. I had a lot to process. And once my partner has caught up, I'll be talking about this with them aswell. I just wanted to put these thoughts out there, as they might reach the right ears.

[P] It gives allistics a strange—yet I believe wrong—perspective. If one allistic strives to be worthy of reward, by being exceptional success is guaranteed. It stands to reason, then, that all icons within the allistic experience must be the same. If an egomaniac claims that with their inherited wealth, they'll fix the environment with geo-engineering? Then it must be so! Their success is a foregone conclusion.

[P] It's often in allistic works that either a character is inferior, and their successes are spectacular feats to be valued, or they were always incredible and they take failure hard. In truth, failure is a part of life, we stumble in order to walk, we have to fail at walking before we can begin to. It's an experience shared by so much of life, human and otherwise. So from where, I wonder, is this exceptionalism derived?

[P] "Do or do not, there is no try." Thanks Yoda, I hate that.
[C] A profound lack of wisdom.
[P] It isn't the way allistics would see a character like that. I mean, even consider the publish-or-perish aspect of college. It is only the inferior who fails. Thus, Dragon Pilot is an autistic story. An unexceptional person who often fails, grows, and eventually succeeds. I can see why that's unappealing to allistics.#psychology #actuallyautistic #dragons #writing #dragonpilot

[P] I take issue with that because those are all lies. I see that allistics are prone to a spot of doomscrolling, but in their experience the web of lies enshrouds them. I have no such shroud. I am not exceptional, nor is any human, nor is humanity as a species. A failure doesn't indicate inferiority, it is an accepted process by which we learn. I know many allistics won't hear that. Failure isn't an option.

[P] You see... I'd call it: "The way things could be, in a better world." And why not? I think one od those big separators that distinguishes autists as aliens is the strange dishonesty of the allistic experience, the lies, the delusion. It's a coping mechanism, to love tragedy for selfish reasons. It's the comfort in the failure of the inferior, to know that our tribe can do better because we're exceptional—a foregone conclusion.

[P] So, I just finished up with Dragon Pilot and I must say... it is one of the finest stories I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I was worried, at points, but it worked out... I mean, why not? Why can't things work out?? I am an alien, so it's a fair question. I've never understood the creepy, hardcore, wriggly fetish allistics have for pathos, nor the loathing repugnance they hold and bear for what they call "schmaltz."

[P] I think I was aware of Dragon Pilot at the back of my mind, though I hadn't consciously recognised it as I was afraid it would be xenophobic, otherness-punishing fodder for the potentially billions of social identity tribal allistics who really, really get off on that. It's rare when something is so profoundly autistic as to present so much otherness (dragons, aeromorphs, and vore) in such a positive light. Truly unexpected.

[P] As such, Dragon Pilot is at least a somewhat autistic show. I wish there was more focus on the dragons as characters, but even in how the dragons are accepted, and treated with both respect and kindness is unallistic. I feel that the spectrum of autism and allistic crosses all cultural barriers, as every culture has tribal allistics who loathe otherness, and autists who welcome otherness and judge only by unkindness.

[P] This story is writ across human history, from world wars to black slavery. Allistic social identity tribalism must exploit, harm, or kill otherness, that or otherness must be assimilated and made similar. Autism, operating on values-based identity, is almost the stark opposite of this. We judge those we dislike not by otherness or dissimilarity as allistics do, but rather by immoraltiy, poor ethucs, and lacking empathy.

[P] Suffice it to say, fictional cases of mutualistic symbiosis with a dragon are a rare treat. As fiction is so often by and for allistics in an allistic world, the fiction that almost exclusively gets funded is of a... parasitic nature. In most cases, otherness is exploited, harmed, and butchered to entertain social identity allistics whose tribal minds are disgusted with the very notion that otherness even exists at all.

[P] I have to tread carefully with this as puritannical sensibilities are often easily offended. Still, suffice it to say, Dragon Pilot is categorically soft vore where the purpose is mutualist. In environments where symbiosis exists, it can be neutral (it benefits the symbiont, the host doesn't notice), parasitic (the host is harmfully exploited to benefit the symbiont), or mutualistic (equal beneficial to both symbiont & host).

[P] I won't get into the topic if vore too much, but as much as I grasp it? Vore is a scale, or perhaps a spectrum, where many variables define its natue and the audience for whom it's intended. As is my understanding, all fetishes coalesce from a place of emotional need. Is it a sex thing? Can be. But it isn't only a sex thing and it's important to understand the etymology of fetish. As such, fetishes are as complex as emotions.

[P] Well, I discovered the existence of Dragon Pilot today. Hm. Netflix original airforce dragon vore anime isn't a sentence I ever expected to read. And given how these things go, I suspected pessimistically and cynically that it would be a sordid little bait & switch into a horror girefest like Hatoful Boyfriend and Angels with Scaly Wings, because allistics love to punish otherness. It was not. It's endearing & delightful.
