  1. Started my day with the first two albums by Shannon & The Clams who take 2010s era indie rock and cram it full of surf, doo wop, 60s garage, early R&B, etc. Really good stuff, they came out around the 2010s surf revival in indie rock but they are closer to real surf rock than most of those bands.

  11. I went deep into the dark corners of The Groove Yard for the tunes in this visit and got just a little fixated on the fifties ending up with 60 minutes of varied music from the 1950s. There is some Blues, some Doo-wop, some Rockabilly and some other stuff.

  15. I added a few #doowop #music to my playlist, including Billy Joel's The Longest Time and I have to say...this thing is a rich gift

I mean, obvs everyone loves it (I remember freezing in my tracks the very first time I heard it on the radio in the 80s). But also consider the fact that he could have made a lot less song and still had an enduring classic.

It's got *5* verses and 2 bridges in not 3, not 4 but *6* part harmony.

(On top of the brilliant lines like "I'll take my chances, I forgot how nice romance is" and of course singing it all himself.)

  16. "Silhouettes" is a song made famous by the American #doowop group #theRays in 1957, peaking at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100. A competing version by #theDiamonds was also successful. In 1965 it was a number 5 hit in the US for #HermansHermits, and in 1990 it was a number 10 hit in the UK for #CliffRichard.

McRae, and William Edwards, members of the Chords, and was released in 1954. It is sometimes considered the first doo-wop or #rockAndRoll record to reach the top ten on the pop charts (as opposed to the R&B charts), as it was a top-10 hit that year for both the Chords (who first recorded the song).
