I really enjoy the discipline involved in #SolarPunkSunday. It takes a lot for me to hold off on #Doomposting for 24 hours or so! But it's a habit that helps me to switch gears and not think about just negative stuff.

AI is fundamentally destroying our planet — says person posting from a smartphone made in a lithium mine, powered by cloud servers, on a platform that uses AI.

But yes, the Midjourney camel is the final straw. 🐫💥 #AI #Doomposting

I've had a couple of folks thank me for my positive posts today. ☺️ I guess, to put it in the words of #ModestMouse, I had good news for people who like bad news? Lol. Just kidding. SPS is always a nice change from my usual #Doomposting!

Shifting gears for a bit. I just saw some upcoming #Wabanaki and #Nature-themed events that are coming up before #SolarPunkSunday, so I'll be posting those before switching back to #Doomposting. Stay tuned...

Easing my way back into the #Doomposting (and boy, there's a lot of #DoomAndGloom out there). I did spend some quality time at the ##MétisOfMaine #PowWow today, and made some new friends -- including a fellow Two-Spirit person, who recognized that I, too, was one. We talked about what to wear when dancing (they were wearing both a ribbon shirt and a ribbon skirt). I mentioned that I felt called to wear a ribbon shirt (with pants), but also use a shawl -- because as a Diindiisi (Ojibwe word for "Blue Jay"), I needed wings when dancing. They totally understood where I was coming from. Hung out with a talented seamstress (a different one than the one who made my shawl), and talked to her about decorating my shawl with Blue Jay colors, along with the Métis symbol, and she should have the work done by the next PowWow. Psyched!

Also, I, too, am guilty of doing this exact same thing. And someone pointed it out, and I realized that I was being an asshole. After some deep self-examination of my own values, I realized that despite my #Doomposting, part of me still has hope that a better world is possible -- which is why I started #SolarPunkSunday. If you've given up, I get that. But please don't hate on others who haven't. Mute the hashtag, mute my account -- but don't be an asshole. After all, who is the REAL enemy? It sure ain't the folks who dare to have hope -- despite the odds! #TheOddsAreNeverInOurFavor

So, what does "DoomsdaysCW" mean? Well, my nickname since high school has been "Doomsday", and years ago on FB, I started a parody account called, "Doomsday's Conspiracy Watch." Except then #Fukushima nuclear accident happened, and, well, I realized there was a big conspiracy -- covering up how much radiation was released! The account then became focused on coverups, and when I moved over to the BirdSite in 2014, I shortened the name to DoomsdaysCW. Here on Mastodon, I'm realizing that a lot of what I post SHOULD have a CW, but doesn't. So yeah. Now "DoomsdaysCW" is "Doomsday's Content Warning"! You have been warned!

Oh wow... You know things are bad when you go to your "Gardening" list of accounts, and they're all #DoomPosting instead of #BloomPosting. So much for that timeline cleanse. 🤷🏿 🌼

It wasn't easy keeping the chipmunks from eating them -- #Neem oil and cedar/pine mulch (specifically used cat litter infused with cat urine, no poops) seems to be pretty good at deterring them...
