One of my friends needed a letter from her GP to prove her disabilities to get things like a blue badge and a disability bus pass.
Her GP surgery want £70 to do this. She has applied for PIP, which will give her proof. But that takes months to process, usually followed by an appeal that just rubber stamps the decision, then a tribunal for which the waiting list is over a year.
Meanwhile she is trying to stretch her ordinary benefit to cover some of the extra costs, especially for transport.
So £70 is not possible. -
#GardenUpdate 1/? from this year. We have a good deal to get caught up on, so let’s begin.
It appears as though only two of the six Purple Passion asparagus crowns that I sowed in the fall, survived the winter. They were rotten when they got to me and I was heartbroken. #DisabilityTax
Peonies are doing well, serviceberry is blooming, and slowly but surely I will make this garden pretty.

But this is yet another example of the #disabilitytax. Treating personalized shoes like a luxury when they're actually a needed accomodation. And not having them leads to eventual amputation.

@danieldurrans @Mikal @revk a visually impaired friend had to spend £400 extra on her new hob to get one with knobs she can use. #DisabilityTax
Partially or wholly touch screen operated appliances are poorly or completely inaccessible to so many people (think dexterity problems as well as vision frex).

So I have dental insurance with my university.
For some reason, even though it's linked to our student code, and so it should be easily to add to our student portal, the information about it is on a completly different website. And you need to pick your university and student association from a very long dropdown menu (they could do 2, one uni, one asso).Anw, I filed 2 claims in January and because of [reasons], I haven't check back on it until today.
Well, they've been refused. It would seem I picked the wrong student association and , so, had the wrong contract number on my claims. I did have the right certificate number though, but that wasn't good enough for them.
And now, it might be to late to fix it... 😩 -
I walked to the corner (and back). I think that's about 100 metres. My capacity is definitely down. Also it's bloody cold out there.
Less capacity is at least in part because I'm nursing a mild stomach bug. It's been gurgling around for well over a week now.
In other news, I've just been assertive at (and about) a shoddy service provider. The one that charged about $300 for window washing that took an hour and only included the easy outside windows.
#DisabilityTax #AgedCareTaxThey are very clearly not used to feedback. Which is probably why they target the care industry.

I'm em*bracing* my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (and being disabled in general) by ordering about $600 worth of braces, wraps, supports, pillows, and supportive devices. Android mode *engage*!

Ergo: Bollo ❤️
