Last night I updated two #AlpineLinux VMs. One (serving this instance) worked flawlessly, but the other started throwing errors about not having permission to access
/dev/null.I fixed it by resetting the device manager (in this case mdev):
doas setup-devd mdev(Not sure why one of them broke, but it's an older VM, so it may still have stuff leftover from 3.15 or something.)

Manchmal ärgere ich mich fast das ich keine Werbung konsumiere und derartige Entscheidungen daher nicht treffen kann.
Aber von ganz früher kaufe ich bis heute kein Omo oder Saitenbacher.
Und das eine oder andere wo mir gerade nicht einfällt... -
Hat die Studie eventuell mal den Einfluss von sozialen Medien gegenübergestellt?
Oder hinterfrage wie Teens an den für sie verbotenen Stoff gelangt sind? -

Ich denke der beste Weg das zu vermeiden ist dieses ganze #influencer Pack samt der dazugehörigen Plattformen zu meiden.

Over the last couple of years, my monitor count has gone from 3 to 2 to 1. I used to enjoy having lots of applications spread across multiple screens in front of me, now enjoy just having the application on screen that I'm actively using. I'm not entirely sure why this happened, maybe it's because I'm getting older, or maybe it's due to the improved performance of touchpad gestures in GNOME, or a combination of both. Whatever the reason, I'm currently enjoying using a single monitor.

Spent the last two weeks travelling around the bottom of Florida with Becky. We saw lots of wildlife including alligators, manatees, turtles, pelicans and tarpons. We drove the Florida Keys road and visited the Everglades national park. We also attended the Homestead rodeo, which was epic. We did some touristy stuff in and around Miami, including a day at South Beach, a boat trip around PortMiami and a ride in the Miami observation wheel. It was a lovely holiday. I also turned 50.

Tonight, I have mostly been building flat packed furniture. It’s a bit like Lego for grownups, not that grownups can’t play with Lego. That said, I think Lego comes with better instructions and is more fun, it also weighs less and is easier on my aging joints. Thinking about it, I’d much rather play with Lego.

I've been pretty quiet on here for a while (more so than normal). I tend to spend a lot of time riding my bike during the summer months.

Sat in a coffee shop this afternoon in Nottingham and I counted 8 laptops being used by customers, 7 of them were MacBooks. I'm not sure this has any significance, but I thought it was interesting. The other laptop was a HP.

Becky has the coronavirus. She has somehow managed to avoid catching it for 4 years, but she has been feeling rough for a couple of days and so did a test this morning. We've cancelled our plans for New Year's Eve.

Off to the golf range later today, I think it's a male bonding session?! I don't play golf, so currently reading about golf balls. Apparently, golf balls used to be a hand-sewn round leather pouch stuffed with chicken or goose feathers and coated with paint, usually white in colour. Anyhow, anyone got any tips?

Working on a website that will be 20 years old next month. TBH, it looks 20 years old and so does the code. Maybe I'll convince the owner to update/rewrite it at some point. That said, it works just fine, so I wouldn't blame them if they kept it as is for another 20 years.

How do you politely inform someone that their flippant use of punctuation, such as multiple exclamation marks in article titles, is bad form? This person also uses multiple periods (not always the same number) in place of an ellipsis. I'm not a grammar Nazi, but this stuff grates on me.
