Panagrinėkime, ką kiekvienam iš mūsų reiškia vadovavimas ar pagalba. Ar tai nereiškia individualių sunkumų, skausmų ir kančių išsprendimo? Jei esi dvasinis mokytojas ar gydytojas, aš ateinu pas tave tam, kad man parodytum laimingą gyvenimo kelią arba išgydytum ligą. Mes ieškome gyvenimo būdo iš nušvitusio žmogaus, o žinių ar informacijos — iš išsilavinusiojo. Mes norime pasiekti, norime būti sėkmingi, norime būti laimingi, todėl ieškome gyvenimo modelio, kuris padėtų mums pasiekti tai, ko trokštame — švento ar pasaulietiško.
Išbandę daugybę kitų dalykų, mes pradedame laikyti tiesą aukščiausiu tikslu, galutine ramybe ir laime, ir norime ją pasiekti. Todėl nuolat ieškome to, ko trokštame. Tačiau ar troškimas kada nors gali pasiekti tikrovę? Ar troškimas kažko, kad ir kokio kilnaus, negimdo iliuzijos? Ir ar troškimas, veikdamas, nesukuria autoriteto, imitacijos ir baimės struktūros? Let us consider what guidance or help means to each one of us. Does it not mean the resolving of individual difficulties, pains and sorrows? If you are a spiritual teacher or a doctor, I come to you to be shown a happy way of life or to be cured of a disease. We seek a way of life from someone enlightened, and knowledge or information from the learned. We want to achieve, we want to be successful, we want to be happy, so we look for a pattern of life which will help us to attain what we desire, sacred or profane. After trying many other things, we think of truth as the supreme goal, the ultimate peace and happiness, and we want to attain it. So we are on the lookout to find what we desire. But can desire ever make its way to reality? Does not the desire for something, however noble, breed illusion? And as desire acts, does it not set up the structure of authority, imitation and fear? This is the actual psychological process – and is this help, or self-deception?

141 Lumen is a carbonaceous Asteroid, approximately 130 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on January 13, 1875, by Paul and Prosper Henry, but Paul is the brother who was given the credit for this discovery. It is named for Lumen: Récits de l'infini, a book by the astronomer Camille Flammarion.
