  1. Australia is being fleeced by the gas industry. We export huge amounts of gas, yet households and businesses are still copping high energy prices and constant pressure from the cost-of-living crisis. It’s hard to see how a system like this is working for ordinary people when the profits are flowing out and the pain stays here.

  2. The #Teal #independents could band together to form a new #party, says #DavidPocock.

    There are whispers conversations are happening behind the scenes – reportedly led by #ZaliSteggall & #AllegraSpender – that a new party could push back against the growing influence of #GinaRinehartsOne Nation. #auspol

  3. CW: Language Warning

    I had an early dinner tonight and thought I’d use that down time to watch #ABC #Insider because I knew #DavidPocock was on the bill. There’s not much that I’ve drawn from watching it (hopefully not a bellyache from eating too fast).

    Pocock said all the right things despite #Speersie’s efforts to repeatedly ‘corner’ him by asking the same question using various words, not listening to the answers, and giving #PHON oxygen (the leopard hasn’t changed his spots).

    The panel grudgingly swatted away most of the msm and social media anti-tax propaganda without really explaining it for the audience (the panel could very have been reluctant to give the govt brownie points if they explained how the tax system actually works). Jeezzz, there’s a lot of dumbfucks out there…

    Speersie was speersie;
    The panel was the beige kind of panel Insiders normally has on;
    The set has not changed (forgot how horrid the colours were, nearly put me off my dinner);
    LIttle useful information was disseminated, at least not that I heard;
    And I stopped watching when Pocock was done with because… well, becuase it’s #FoxSiders of course.

  4. @SallyABL Will the following questions will be answered?
    1. Because climate + human rights are interlinked, why is David Pocock voting for compulsory income management in partliament, which we know punches down on the rights of first nations people, by directly targeting them?

    David Pocock, you're in favour of the gas tax. Why is that when Norway + climate scientists have shown that when fossil fuels are taxed, it *increases* emissions and reliance on FF?

  16. I hate to belabour the point… well, actually, no I don’t. But to put some perspective into Senator #DavidPocock defeated motion to set up a Senate Committee to take a look at #GasExports, here is an interesting article from The Point (Australian Institute) that should have been tabled in the Senate along with the motion (can you do that in the Senate? I don’t know) talking about: ‘New analysis shows Japan is emerging as a major player in global gas trading, despite producing no liquefied natural gas of its own – and it’s all thanks to Australia.’

  21. According to the Australian Institute:
    'latest polling shows Labor, Coalition, Greens and One Nation voters all support a 25% tax on gas exports.'

    I guess that #AlboPM jammed tight against a decision wall that he doesn't seem to want to breach. Will the Libs and Nats pick it up or will they also man the ramparts and defend the indefensible?
