Ich hab hier gerade wieder über 24h Totalausfall bei #DeutscheGlasfaser (Lösungszeit: unbekannt).
Habe die 2. SIM meines Congstar-Vertrags (eigentlich für's Notebook gedacht) an einem alten Handy als Backup am Router. Soweit so gut für jetzt.
Da ich solche Ausfälle zukünftig häufiger erwarte und hier aufm Dorf keine andere Wahl als DG oder lahmes DSL habe: Wo will man günstig einen Backup-LTE/5G Vertrag abschliessen mit >=100GB (nur Telekom-Netz Empfang hier)?

So, I was talking with my supervisor about how #Starlink is trying to divert money intended for #FiberOptic, and told her about the #KesslerEffect (which will probably be caused by old Starlink satellites).
"I guess that will knock us back to landlines," was her reply.
"All the more reason to have fiber in place!" I chimed in! -

Kann mir jemand sagen, von wem die städtische Netzwerk-Infrastruktur in Hannover aufgebaut und verwaltet wird?
Ich würde erwarten, dass es ein relativ gut ausgebautes Glasfaser-Netz gibt.
Weiß jemand, mit wem man sich unterhalten könnte, wie realistisch städtische dunkle Fasern oder Kupferleitungen sind?
Über die Uni haben wir schon nachgedacht, das ist leider DFN; da sind wir raus, weil wir nicht garantieren, dass nur Menschen mit Uni-Bezug Zugang zum Netz haben.
Wir würden unser Netz in Hannover gerne mit einem lokalen Backbone auf's nächste Level bringen.
Über einen Stups/Boost in die richtige Richtung würde ich mich sehr freuen.
Vielleicht findet sich ja jemand, die/der sowas in Hannover beruflich macht :)

Today was the first time I noticed the new feature on #YouTube called "1080p Premium - enhanced bitrate".
On the one hand, I think it's the platform's right to limit #bandwidth to their liking. On the other hand, as a paying user of an #Internet subscription I would expect that up- and download costs are covered by my monthly payments. Furthermore, I remember a study published in 2009 that YouTube's costs for peering and transit are close to zero due to the company's network of #darkfiber cables across the globe.
Somewhat an intimidating development to further maximize profits.
