The Reddit post from the coder whistle blowing on the evil they are asked to embed into the delivery app he works on made me reflect: I'm from an older gen that doesn't quite get people having fast food delivered on the regular. First, the appeal of that food quickly declines as soon as it starts cooling off, it's way better straight out of the fryer or off the grill. Next, given inflation, the cost of that stuff is crazy already for what you get, to add in even more on delivery doesn't make sense. I totally understand people that are super busy, ill, disabled or without transport getting deliveries, but that still doesn't quite scale to why me & my kiddo are usually the only ones ever sitting in the dining room of our local (in walking distance) burger joint, while a parade of Uber Eats & DoorDash drivers go in and out at the counter.
