  1. Last night I went to Crow's Theatre to watch a performance of OCTET, and I was kind of blown away by it.

OCTET is an eight-person, mostly sung-through theatre piece about how big tech is impacting our lives. The music is rich and complex acapella choral harmony in a number of styles, but very melodic and accessible. It's structured as a support group for internet addicts. Each player leads one number, about their particular addiction, and the human impact of it. It was not just tech-bashing, though -- some songs got philosophical, and one talked about what a lifeline the internet can be. The connecting bits were quirky and often funny.

If that sounds like your thing, I recommend it. There was some terrific work by the set people on the floor of the stage, which is itself a big screen.

Playing at Crow's for a while still. Music, Lyrics, and book by Dave Malloy. Directed by Chris Abraham.
