Mixed #CoverCrop #seeds. I use them as part of ongoing #SoilRemediation work. I'll sow these mixed seeds after removing lawn grass & working lime & compost soil into the earth, covering with more soil & a thin layer of leaf mulch. The alternative cover crop roots feed & naturally aerate the earth they grow out of. I then remove most of the cover crops & sow/transplant food & pollinator plants in same spot.

Worked on #sowing more #CoverCrop #seeds for #SoilRemediation & #rewilding our yards. I'll update later on the plant seeds sowed - pretty big list. Both of these blends are #beneficial for #PollinatorGardens too. Many are also #edible for humans & wildlife. Sourced from #SmallFarmers ✌👩‍🌾

I just took a #soilhealth class at my local library and here are some #interesting things I learned:
- Soil & Water Dep's were started because of the Dust Bowl
- Soil loss is the no.1 polluter in #NC
- 200 farms left in my county and the depr encourages #NoTillFarming and #CoverCrop
- #Soil tests rec every 3 yrs and ID Ph, micro, and macro nutrients
- Our area doesn't test for N as it's usually not a problem in our clay and loamy soil
- Phosphorus is the biggest issue to address here
