I have spent a morning analysing my power usage. We are on Contact's free weekend power plan. Turns out that this is by far the cheapest for us. I'd recommend everyone on Contact look at their usage and whether the plan they are on is the best for them.
Analysis assumed the daily rate is the same for all plans which probably isn't the case but we work with what we have.
I have a handy perl script which will download usage across multiple months as csv files. Anyone interested?

Contact Energy applied under fast track legislation to be able to reduce Lake Hawea's water levels by as much as 8m. When they felt like it.
Locals were up in arms and farmers joined the protest. It was always a bizarre concept and the government has just rejected the proposal.
If Contact were to build the solar farms they already have consented, they wouldn't need to try it on with this sort of nonsense.

Just received notice that my daily power charge is rising by 45 cents per day and the per unit price is rising by 17%.
SEVENTEEN PERCENT!
How is this justified? My cost of living crisis sure as shit isn't fixed.

Contact energy has upgraded their app.
Not much changed except they now round the top of the bar graph on the usage tab.
Why would you round the top? My use doesn't rise up and fall off each month.
( December is Christmas. It'll be back to normal in Jan I said hopefully)
