Maybe kiwis need to accept that the NZ government is just fucked, give up on it, and work with whānau, hapū and iwi to reconstitute the country's governance arrangements from scratch? Stop buying into the badly cloned version of the British government that claims total sovereignty here.
My reading of Te Tiriti in the context of He Whakaputanga is that it formally recognises Ngāti Pākeha as an iwi. Maybe we need to start acting like one?

The reason I have an interest is not in the petty soap opera knock-about of the current tabloid-fueled chicanery. It is because this disfunctional family are headed by the Head of State of our failing hardly democratic system.Unless something radical happens this will continue to be the case.
We need constitutional reform to include a review of whether the Royal family should continue to fulfil this role.
