  1. Thank you to @biocrusoe for the touching tribute to Peter Amstutz @tetron in the #BOSC2025 opening session - a very fitting venue as much of his work was with #CommonWL, which involved many of our community, and started at the #CoFest: floss.social/@cwl/114655254702

  11. CWL v1.2.1 has been ratified and released!
    w3id.org/cwl/v1.2/

There are no new features nor behavior changes in CWL v1.2.1 as compared to CWL v1.2.0.

v1.2.1 fixes only typos, adds clarifications, and adds additional conformance tests.

Some changes to the schema defining CWL have been made to aid the auto-generation of libraries for the reading and writing of CWL documents.

  12. New to the #CommonWL gallery: MGX 2.0

    commonwl.org/gallery/#mgx-2.0

"MGX uses an in-house developed workflow engine for read-level analysis of metagenomic sequence datasets. That workflow engine (Conveyor) keeps data in system memory and only writes it to files when e.g. external programs are invoked to process the data. Since this is rather impractical for metagenomic assembly, we added support for CWL and implemented corresponding analysis workflows."
