To Social Organizations, Collectives, and Civil SocietyAs the National Indigenous Congress in Chiapas, we publicly denounce the repression against our peoples and communities. The capitalist hydra, with the complicity of the three levels of corrupt government—municipal, state, and federal—continues to plunder our territories.
The events of February 12, 2026, carried out by the State Guard, the Chilón Municipal Police, officials from the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples, and the Unitary Agrarian Court against our compañeros from the CNI “Samir Flores Soberanes” Zone 10 Patria Nueva in the community of Jotolá, municipality of Chilón, have resulted in the displacement of eight families and the arrest of two of our members: Francisco Moreno and María de Jesús Sánchez. Their homes were destroyed and their belongings stolen.
Our compañeras and compañeros remain displaced; eight people have arrest warrants issued against them and are facing economic hardship, illness, unemployment, and homelessness. Francisco Moreno remains imprisoned at the Yajalón jail, and María de Jesús is required to report to the bad government every Friday.
As the CNI, we denounce the actions being committed by the corrupt governments against our Tseltal brothers and sisters of the CNI who are organizing at the Dr. Belisario Domínguez “Samir Flores Soberanes” Traditional Public Market, Zone 10 Patria Nueva, in the municipality of Ocosingo.
With the complicity of the corrupt governments, 39 co-owners, have been suffering the dispossession of their workplaces, the destruction of their stalls, the construction of fences to block access to their workplaces, humiliations, threats, violence against our sisters, the kidnapping of our compañeros—including children—and the fabrication of criminal charges before the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Chiapas—acts that we have publicly denounced.
We tell our fellow compañeras and compañeros in the struggle that our brothers and sisters at the Dr. Belisario Domínguez “Samir Flores Soberanes” Traditional Public Market continue to defend the Territory and its Autonomy; they are not for sale to big capital, nor are our existence and the Resistance of our Peoples up for negotiation. We demand an end to this legalized dispossession and any other counterinsurgency actions against our 39 compañeros.
We also denounce the harassment being suffered by 10 Tseltal families from the community of Agua Clara, located in Zone 5 Roberto Barrios, municipality of Salto de Agua, Chiapas—members of the National Indigenous Congress in Chiapas. For the past 10 years, our brothers and sisters have been fighting to defend their territory, their autonomy, and their right to self-determination.
We state that with the arrival of megaprojects such as the misnamed “Maya Train,” the threats to our territory have increased. Now, with the construction of the San Cristóbal–Palenque superhighway, they are destroying our hills, cutting down trees, and this has caused droughts; the water levels of our rivers have dropped; and the harvest road that runs through our plots has caused divisions within the community. We were never informed by the ejido authorities—who claim it is for the benefit of the population—when we know it is actually to facilitate tourism.Our compañeros in the CNI are being threatened with dispossession and eviction from the lands they have occupied for years. On June 23, 2026, government supporters threatened that the Pakales Immediate Reaction Forces would enter to evict them from their plots. These repressive actions are carried out with the complicity of the three levels of corrupt governments.
These same acts of territorial dispossession are happening to our comrades who are members of the National Indigenous Congress, Zone 11 Tulankao, in the community of San Francisco, municipality of Teopisca, Chiapas. On March 24 of this year, they were informed by two engineers from the state government that a highway from San Cristóbal to Teopisca would pass through their territory, for which 60 meters of land were needed. The engineers arrived with their tricks and lies, claiming that the other communities had agreed to the project. We publicly state that our brothers and sisters from many communities do not agree to the construction of this highway.
The campesinas and campesinos of San Francisco know that the highway is for the benefit of business owners. As Indigenous Peoples, we know it will only destroy our lands and trees, bring air pollution, and destroy our culture and peace. As Indigenous Peoples, we say NO to this highway project.
As the National Indigenous Congress in Chiapas, we observe that the war against Indigenous peoples continues; there is no peace—there is dispossession of our workplaces and our territories. The corrupt government uses repression to destroy our organization. Deadly projects continue, such as the San Cristóbal-Palenque superhighway and the San Cristóbal-Teopisca highway. Our compañeros remain in prison, and families have been displaced.
Therefore, WE DEMAND:
A complete end to the dispossession of Indigenous Peoples’ territories.
An end to the attacks on the autonomy of our brothers and sisters in the National Indigenous Congress in Chiapas.
The full release of our compañeros María de Jesús Sánchez and Francisco Moreno.
The revocation of the arrest warrants against our compañeros and compañeras.

Se intensifican los cuestionamientos sobre presuntas irregularidades de Amparo Elizabeth Santamaría Briseño en el Reclusorio Oriente.
La crisis del sistema penitenciario capitalino ya no puede esconderse detrás de discursos oficiales ni de estadísticas cuidadosamente seleccionadas. El caso de la subdirectora del Reclusorio Preventivo Varonil Oriente, Amparo Elizabeth Santamaría Briseño, exhibe una realidad que la Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana de la Ciudad de México parece incapaz de explicar, menos Clara Crugada, qiuen gobierna esta ciudad capital: la profunda distancia entre la narrativa institucional de combate a la corrupción y los hechos que hoy generan sospechas, indignación y exigencias de transparencia.
Mientras la SSC, encabezada por Pablo Vázquez Camacho, insiste en presentar una imagen de control y profesionalización del sistema penitenciario, los centros de reclusión continúan apareciendo en la conversación pública por motivos muy distintos. Los reportes sobre extorsiones, autogobierno, venta de drogas y redes ilícitas dentro de las cárceles no son nuevos. Han sido denunciados durante años por internos, familiares, organizaciones civiles y materiales documentales que han mostrado prácticas incompatibles con un sistema penitenciario funcional.

En ese contexto, resulta inevitable preguntarse cómo una funcionaria que ha desarrollado prácticamente toda su carrera profesional dentro del Reclusorio Oriente puede organizar una celebración cuyo costo aparente supera ampliamente los ingresos que públicamente reporta en sus declaraciones patrimoniales. La pregunta no es personal ni privada. Es un asunto de interés público porque involucra a una servidora pública adscrita a una de las áreas más sensibles del gobierno capitalino.
Los datos conocidos generan más interrogantes que respuestas. Una fiesta de XV años con agrupaciones musicales de alto costo, –entre ellas «Los Cadetes de Linares» y «Zona Rika«– un recinto exclusivo y actividades posteriores en Acapulco representan gastos que difícilmente pasan inadvertidos para cualquier ciudadano que compara esas cifras con los ingresos declarados oficialmente. Si todo tiene una explicación legal y transparente, corresponde a las autoridades presentarla de manera clara y verificable.
Lo preocupante es que este episodio no surge en un vacío institucional. Ocurre precisamente en una cárcel que durante años ha estado bajo señalamientos relacionados con actividades ilícitas. Cuando las sospechas sobre movimientos económicos de funcionarios coinciden con denuncias persistentes de corrupción penitenciaria, el problema deja de ser una anécdota social y se convierte en una cuestión de confianza pública.

La administración de Pablo Vázquez Camacho enfrenta aquí una prueba fundamental. No basta con guardar silencio o esperar que el ciclo mediático avance hacia otro tema. La ciudadanía tiene derecho a conocer si existe una investigación interna, si se revisarán los movimientos patrimoniales de los funcionarios involucrados y si los mecanismos de control interno realmente funcionan.
Más grave aún es el mensaje que reciben miles de policías honestos y trabajadores públicos que viven exclusivamente de sus salarios. Cuando aparecen casos que exhiben estilos de vida aparentemente incompatibles con los ingresos reportados, la percepción de impunidad se fortalece. Y cuando la autoridad no responde con claridad, esa percepción termina convirtiéndose en desconfianza institucional.
La SSC tampoco puede ignorar el contexto estructural. Los señalamientos de autogobierno en centros penitenciarios no surgen por generación espontánea. Son consecuencia de años de tolerancia, supervisión deficiente y redes de poder que prosperan cuando la vigilancia institucional fracasa. Cada denuncia sobre extorsiones o actividades ilícitas dentro de una prisión representa un cuestionamiento directo a quienes tienen la responsabilidad de mantener el orden y la legalidad.
El Reclusorio Oriente se ha convertido nuevamente en una ventana hacia problemas más profundos. La discusión ya no gira únicamente en torno a una celebración costosa. Lo verdaderamente relevante es saber qué ocurre detrás de los muros de una de las cárceles más importantes de la capital y por qué continúan apareciendo episodios que alimentan sospechas sobre la integridad de su administración.
Pablo Vázquez Camacho tiene la obligación política y administrativa de responder sobre los cuestionamientos contra Santamaría Briseño. No porque exista una sentencia o una resolución definitiva sobre este caso, sino porque la confianza pública exige explicaciones oportunas cuando surgen cuestionamientos legítimos sobre el comportamiento de funcionarios que ocupan cargos estratégicos dentro del sistema penitenciario.

En política, las prioridades suelen revelarse no por los discursos, sino por los símbolos.
Durante los últimos días, un pato llamado «Merlín» se convirtió en una inesperada celebridad. Vestido con la camiseta de la Selección Mexicana, el animal llamó la atención de miles de personas en el Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México y posteriormente captó el interés de medios internacionales en el contexto de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2026.
La historia posee todos los ingredientes para triunfar en redes sociales: humildad, espontaneidad, futbol y un personaje entrañable capaz de generar simpatía inmediata entre públicos de distintas edades.
El fenómeno incluso atrajo la atención del empresario Ricardo Salinas Pliego, quien invitó a los propietarios del ave a compartir su historia y les ofreció la posibilidad de asistir a un partido de la Selección Mexicana en el Estadio Azteca.
Hasta ahí, la anécdota encaja en la lógica del entretenimiento contemporáneo. Las redes sociales transforman episodios cotidianos en fenómenos virales y las figuras públicas suelen aprovechar esas tendencias para conectar con la audiencia.

El problema aparece cuando el espectáculo comienza a compartir espacio con asuntos que involucran dolor humano, derechos fundamentales y responsabilidades del Estado.
México atraviesa una de las crisis más profundas de desapariciones en su historia reciente. Los registros oficiales acumulan más de 130 mil personas desaparecidas y no localizadas, una tragedia que afecta a miles de familias distribuidas en prácticamente todo el territorio nacional.
Detrás de cada expediente existe una madre, un padre, un hermano o un hijo que busca respuestas. No se trata únicamente de estadísticas; se trata de vidas suspendidas en la incertidumbre.
Por ello, resultó inevitable que diversos colectivos y familiares de personas desaparecidas compararan la atención institucional otorgada al fenómeno mediático de Merlín con las dificultades que enfrentan para conseguir una audiencia o una respuesta de las autoridades.
El reclamo no se dirige contra los propietarios del pato ni contra quienes encontraron en la historia un motivo de alegría. El cuestionamiento apunta a las señales que emite el poder cuando decide qué asuntos merecen visibilidad pública y cuáles permanecen en espera.

La política moderna vive sometida al ritmo de la viralidad. Lo que genera clics, vistas y conversación digital suele imponerse sobre temas complejos que requieren tiempo, sensibilidad y respuestas institucionales de largo alcance.

La verdadera discusión no gira alrededor de un pato convertido en celebridad. El debate de fondo consiste en determinar si las instituciones mexicanas mantienen la capacidad de colocar a las víctimas en el centro de la agenda pública.
