It legitimately hurts my heart that some people don’t believe in human-caused climate change.

What will change their minds? How can we get them to see?

I have a few thoughts about this.

First, I know that in climate action spaces, the narrative is often that energy shouldn’t be wasted on climate deniers. But I can’t just minimize the reality of extreme polarization making so many people indifferent (or even fully deny) climate change. These people are our friends, family, neighbours and colleagues.

Second, there was a time when I too didn’t believe in climate change. But I had the privilege of attending university as a first generation learner, which helped me gain critical thinking skills and allowed me to learn and understand climate science.

But I don’t think climate denialism is that easily challenged for everyone.
