  1. Perhaps the new #Fedihood by @Thomas is the perfect way to find venues, the nearest club in your area dedicated to a particular topic, or a small independent bookshop.

It would be great to have fields for links, like on Mastodon, where you can add further profiles. For example, a link to OpenStreetMap to check opening hours, or a link to book or reserve a ticket for an event.

  2. Yesterday Gord and I did a road trip to Takakkaw Falls, on the Yoho River.

The river is milky-white, from the suspended limestone dust, broken free from the cascading water.

Navigation was provided by @CoMaps, an OpenStreetMaps interface.

  3. @[email protected] My target for the month was to look for alternatives to Microsoft #Office. I know LibreOffice is right there, but I've never gelled with it despite trying several times.

After a new round of checks, I've settled on @[email protected] . It's fast, has full featured desktop apps and has been able to handle everything I've thrown at it so far. I'm satisfied enough to have set it as my default! #CDNdid
  4. @[email protected] My main goal this month has been to move all my project notes from OneNote to @[email protected] . I had been using a mix of the two for a while and figured now was a good time to host my notes myself, they're important.

Bonus, I prefer Joplin's Markdown approach over OneNote's free-form formatting.

  5. @[email protected] My current goal has been to shift away from OneDrive, that I've been using pretty heavily. It's annoying since I like OneDrive, but I'm looking to drop my Office 365 subscription so that has to go.

I've been moving my files over to @[email protected] Drive for the past several days. It passed all my tests and looks to be reliable enough, plus the built-in privacy is a nice cherry on top. I should be done with this in a few days!
