I have a laptop like that. Replaced the battery twice to the same result about 1 year in each. It gracefully functions without the battery though and I use it as a plugin-portable for now.
I do want to use it to learn of I can coax the multitude of tool batteries I have to work with it nicely, including giving battery charge levels. Likely a pipe dream. I'll probably convert it into a server of some kind first.
Regarding batteries, I've just replaced my fitbit versa 2 watch as it has started only lasting 1 day on a charge. Then recently 1/2 day. From then, only about a week, it degraded to less than 15 minutes.
I picked a Casio that has a replaceable coin cell, still has vibration alarms, and Bluetooth and should last 12 to 18 months.
And it's #cassettefuturism chic! I've always had a deep love of the Nostromo's vibe. -
@SwiftOnSecurity I was looking at this but I've come to need the silent vibration alarm. And as far as I can tell (Casio's site made this hard to confirm) these don't have any vibration feature.
Looking at the GBD-200 as an alt.
Though I really liked the classic Casio style (totally not because of the #cassetteFuturism Alien linkage in my brain... Totally...) -

Hopefully this adaptation stays true to what William Gibson put on paper back in 1984.

With a Replicant uprising serving as the plot, Blade Runner 2099 will air on Amazon Prime Video. It premieres on November 25, 2026.
Amazon will be releasing all right episodes at once. Hopefully it'll be a binge worthy chapter in the Blade Runner universe.

More people are jumping on the dumb phone wagon to take back their life from social media. But the Commodore Callback 8020 isn't exactly a dumb phone, it seems to be attempting to strike a happy balance.
At $500, the price is steep. But then again, cutting the cord to social media pays dividends for your mental health.

I’m really considering getting into cassette tapes next year. I’ve always loved the sound of analogue audio and I’ve fond memories of listening to audio stories as a child to sleep to.
I also love the look of cassette futurism or retro futurism. Can anyone recommend me a modern cassette tape player with this aesthetic that aren’t too expensive? I also appreciate any general tips regarding cassettes an everything surrounding it.
PS: are modern cassette players repairable?

Some in-universe lore about "Blade Runner" is that the movie "Soldier" has references to both Tannhauser Gate and the Shoulder of Orion, along with a broken down Spinner on "Arcadia 234" where Todd has been marooned.
A ship which resembles the Sulaco can been seen in "Blade Runner 2049" also.
