The other day I posted about how technology design is boring now, just a slab with a screen.
This morning I stumbled across #cyberdeck and #writedeck projects and they look amazing! Some are so sleek they could be commercial products, some are literally held together with electrical tape.
I even saw one with a beautiful hand-made wooden case, switches instead of buttons and an actual key to turn it on!
I'm not very engineering-minded so not sure I could do it myself, but it's nice to see people still care. Combine it with #cassettefuturism and you're onto a winner I reckon.

Both Aliens and Total Recall use flat screens depicting idealistic scenes of nature. These scenes were futuristic for their time.
It's worth noting that something which seemed so futuristic back then have now become commonplace.

The Tactical Operations Center (TOC) on the M577 armoured personnel carrier (APC) in Aliens is pure cassette futurism. ECG, BCG, EEG, and EOG readouts with real time camera video from Marines displayed on CRT monitors are a great aesthetic.
Behind the scenes, the M577 was built on Hunslet ATT77 which was used in real life to tow aircraft. Only four were built.
