  1. @RickiTarr Not all humans do separate their minds and bodies into two categories. It's very much a Western philosophy, although quite an old one. Mind/body dualism is usually credited to Descartes, but elements of the idea date back to Plato and Aristotle.

    As a Catholic, I reject #CartesianDualism in favor of an older #nondualism, but it's one of the basic foundations of current philosophical theory in the West. To my knowledge, there is no equivalent philosophy outside of Western Civilization; nor was it widespread prior to Descartes and his disciples.
