“We need more dribbling, and individualism.” Jack Wilshere Special, part 3. Many people have concerns over young players being too academy-produced. Wilshere believes there has to be room for individualism. The type of expressionist football he showed at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger.
Wilshere: “It was very much Arsene giving a lot of responsibility and the academy playing the same way as the first team, but it wasn't really, ‘this is how we play, this is what you need to do, this is it’. It was, ‘well, we’re going to put you in a position, and your own understanding of the game, your own insight, will create moments for you’. Whereas now everyone plays the same. (Although) There's some different things within that.
“Let's see if the game changes where players have to take more responsibility and have more freedom within that, because at the moment it's very structural. ‘You're going to play in this pocket, this is what you can do’. And as much as I like that, because that's what I've coached, I do think there's a little bit more room for players to express themselves.
“There's not that many dribblers now. I was the type of midfielder who liked to dribble, and I definitely think we need to keep that in the game.”
Wilshere also feels that more young players need to experience loans as he did at Bolton Wanderers. “The loan system could do a little bit more now. I feel like it used to, and it was really beneficial for me, and then we went through this era where it wasn't used as much.
“Now I think about players in my team (when he coached Arsenal Under-18s) that would have benefitted massively from just going to spend a month with a League One team, a League One team, just to see what it's like. That's not to say that ‘your career is done here at Arsenal, this is the level you're going to play at’, but just to give them a little bit of understanding that you're not going to turn up to Arsenal, you're not going to have your boots cleaned for you, you're not going to get a protein shake waiting for you after training, just a little bit of realism, both on and off the pitch.” #AFC #BWFC

WTF? Bolton is NOT Manchester 😠
If you're talking about football and you say Manchester then you better be talking about United or City. At a push you can break out of the M60 and get to small clubs like Salford City. But NOT Bolton (who have basically been Horwich for about the last 20 years)

It may be a little quiet in Bolton today. London bound for the League 1 play-off final on the big green bus (which is big, but apparently not green). #bwfc #boltonWanderers #efl
