I finally got around to setting a #domain for my #bridgy account over on #bluesky. I'm just using my #githubpages as I can't be bothered to buy a domain name for it 🦋
-
"Yeah. So the, I think we are at a bit over 130,000 total bridged accounts on BridgyFed right now, which is good."
That's kind of impressive.

so, i've decided to stop bridging with bridgy, but keep crossposting with openvibe. also, considering switching to microblog, so i can have my own domain there as well. we'll see.

Ok so this account is 1 month old today, and I never did my introduction properly, partially because I'm not very good at it 😅
I'm Victoria, pronouns they/she, from Brazil, demigirl, pan, greyace, ambiamory, and communist.
:yippee: :demigirl_flag: :pansexual_flag: :neofox_flag_demiace: :neofox_flag_ambiamorous:I have been moderating some live streams for more than 10 years, and during the day I work with QA specialized in automated testing for 7 years. My social media usually is a mix of:
- serious topics
- tech yapping
- weeb shit (anime, donghua, mangá, manhwa, manhua)
- games (I graduated in game dev)
- memes
:blobfoxpeekowo: I already had a little bit of contact with Fediverse through accounts using Bridgy to Bluesky (where I'm more active because I'm an ATProto nerd, and I'm involved in some interesting projects with it), and I also read about ActivityPub for some time. Until I decided to jump in for real through Wafrn (that mixes AP and AT, which I find very cool).
As I said, I'm still more active over my Bluesky account, which Wafrn people can find directly in @vicwalker.dev.br, and Fedi people can interact through Bridgy @[email protected].
I always recommend my pronouns page because it's multilingual and with more details of how I prefer to be called: https://pronouns.page/u/vicwalker
I also have a Carrd that has more info about what I like, what I do, and more, so this introduction won't be even longer: https://vicwalker-en.carrd.co/BTW, I might post mostly in Portuguese instead of English. I can also speak Spanish, and I'm learning French too.

Ok essa conta aqui completa 1 mês hoje, e eu nunca parei para fazer minha apresentação pro Fediverso direito, em parte porque sou meio ruim nisso 😅
Sou Victoria, pronomes elu/delu, ilu/dilu, ela/dela, demigirl, pan, ace cinza, ambiamorose e comunista.
- nerdice weeb (anime, donghua, mangá, manhwa, manhua)

I am trying to set up webmentions for my blog but it seems cloudflare pages is blocking brid.gy and webmentions.io. I'm searching for a way to disable it in their dashboard but no luck so far. How do I fix this issue?

My experience with #bridgy is that it doesn't work for all supposedly #bridged #bluesky accounts. I've tried following a lot of the #aviation bsky accounts where there's a "web.brid.gy" bc they all migrated there from Xitter, & none of their posts show up in my Home feed save for maybe 1 or 2. I follow the web.brid.gy account here in #Mastodon but for some reason there are no posts, or if there are posts, they don't #federate for some reason with my instance. Disappointed

The official ATmosphere accounts of TV5 Philippines is the first official corporate brand and news I've seen that is bridged via Bridgy so Fediverse users are served as well.

CW: Fediverse Meta, Complaining about Mastodon Defed Options (Again)
So apparently Authorized Fetch does, in fact, work with user-level blocks. :blobfoxthinkgoogly: With that being the case, why doesn't Mastodon have a defederation option where users have an instance blocked by default, but can choose to opt back into federation?
It'd be a really good way to protect user privacy with services like Threads (which doesn't support Authorized Fetch anyway, but still), without it being an outright defederation. With all the bemoaning of Fedi blocking Threads, it seems like that would've been the proper solution instead of telling server admins to suck it up and fork over all of their users' data. Also, for the record, CubHub has Threads blocked, and even if they didn't, they'd block us anyway since we allow porn (and not cub porn ya knobs).
It'd also be a better mechanism for dealing with bridges between here and BlueSky or Nostr, instead of demanding that the creators of those bridges build in their own opt-in mechanism instead, which still feels incredibly unreasonable to me when that features should be built into Mastodon.

Ryan,
How refreshing!
Another bridging mechanism to extend the reach and interoperability with other Fediverse protocols in the #DeSoc space is most welcome, and from the limited analysis I've been able to perform so far this is a novel approach to what some point in the future will find other Fediverse platforms incorporating in their network stacks.
So far, we've got seamless nostr interoperability to add to the other fine protocols such as Diaspora, ZOT, Nomad, OStatus, ActivityPub, and others in the mix. You might also wish to take a look at the repo for Minds to see how they've made seamless integration between the ActivityPub and nostr portions of the #Fediverse as well, and oh, pay no mind to the infantile and disparaging remarks that some small minded folks in this thread have exhibited - they are free to *defederate themselves from the Fediverse at any time.
We've been following withe some enthusiasm your project in the Fediverse-City community and it would be a pleasure to have you participate there. Your insight into the open and public aspects of Fediverse traffic in the #DeSoc world is a testament to the innovation and evolution that is possible in obviating the proprietary, privacy disrespecting, deprecated monolothic silo networks that have sowed so much acrimony and subjugation over the very people whom they seek to quantify as their business products.
You're performing a great service here, feel free to block any miscreants in this thread who don't understand the definition of public.
Also, might I suggest that instead of offering a `#nobridge keyword index, you think about offering a solution as a FEP here?:
https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/There are a lot of Fediverse platform developers I'm sure that you'll find welcoming, encouraging, and willing to offer assistance in formulating solutions to silence the adolescent juvenile mindsets that have been berating you in this thread for your selfless commitment to the well being of us all.
In the future, the Fediverse that we perceive and interact within will become its own heterogeneous superset of networking protocols to facilitate effortless communications between individual parties regardless of which portions of the Fediverse and their associated protocols implemented. Just like #OStatus has been largely supplanted by ActivityPub, and #ZOT has been superseded by #Nomad, the ActivityPub portion of the Fediverse will also eventually be deprecated and replaced by other stacks that will emerge from the ether of creativity. In the meantime, we'll be bridging between the various protocol stacks, and Bridgy-fed is one of those tools that serves to make that a reality :)
Thank you again, for your selfless contribution to #DeSoc and the Fediverse. it's a fantastic achievement that will serve to benefit many in both the #ATP and #ActivityPub portions of the Fediverse!

@pax I see.
Well, that is up to each admin. As long as they know how to differentiate between #Bridgy as #IndieWeb and the Bridgy bridge for the #ATprotocol. If they block the IndieWeb Bridgy that's going to be the most misinformed thing they'll ever do.
As for "normal fedi server", I thing that's very subjective. When is one "evil"? What constitute "racist"? And define "garbage".
Does an instance from Africa by and for Africans racist because they normally use #negro? Am I racist if you see me talk about #KKK? What if an instance is trying to be as neutral as possible? And as moderators are mostly not paid thus there are few moderators in each instance, does it make an instance "not normal" just because they can't monitor every single post and take action against every report immediately?
A few days ago I talked about how Ferdinand Magellan was, is, and never will be a hero contrary to the claims of Spaniards and his white supporters, am I racist then? But they are not despite his many victims and how he looked down on people especially those who are not white?
That's like saying I am not #autistic because I don't look from the upper-right corner of my eyes, or doesn't flap my arms, so I must be "normal"?
😃
