I just found out that you can now transfer your fed.brid.gy accounts to another PDS or instance, for ATmosphere and Fediverse respectively.

I haven't tried it myself. Anyone who did yet? I assume you no longer have to use `.brid.gy` after?

The irony is that @EUCommission runs a Mastodon server and could easily bridge the accounts on it to ATproto/Bluesky with help of #Bridgy

I have been thinking about opting out of #bridgy again and posting more often on my native Bluesky account instead. That would allow for a better #FediverseFirst experience, because I can choose what and when to post on #Bluesky. And this announcement is a good opportunity to actually do that.

A good explanation of #activitypub and #ATproto and explains how each is solving very different problems and why bridging them isn't connecting two similar networks.

:blobfoxpeekowo: I already had a little bit of contact with Fediverse through accounts using Bridgy to Bluesky (where I'm more active because I'm an ATProto nerd, and I'm involved in some interesting projects with it), and I also read about ActivityPub for some time. Until I decided to jump in for real through Wafrn (that mixes AP and AT, which I find very cool).

As I said, I'm still more active over my Bluesky account, which Wafrn people can find directly in @vicwalker.dev.br, and Fedi people can interact through Bridgy @[email protected].

Até que decidi mergulhar na prática através do Wafrn (que mistura AP e AT, o que eu acho muito legal).

@jglypt I post & read on Mastodon because I prefer a non-monetised space where I curate my own feed and we are not manipulated by algos. Many highly intelligent people found the learning curve here too steep and opted for the convenience of Bluesky. I would like to read what they say, & be read by those people too. I see nothing wrong with opt-in #Bridgy, & every reason to reunite communities as valuable as #ScienceTwitter & #AcademicTwitter. Let's encourage widespread use!

& if people wish to interact, they can do so in one place rather than in the fragmented conversations that would result from cross-posting? #bridgy seems capable of reuniting the lost worlds of #ScienceTwitter.
