  1. It's National Beverage Day. Statistically, the most popular beverages in the world are water and tea, I believe. But beer is the most popular alcoholic beverage in the world. For years, Japanese beer advertisers would come to the U.S. to make commercials for their beers. #beverage #beer #advertising #ad #ads #film #book #booksky #bookstodon #books #bottle #glass #beers #brewer #scribesAndMakers #commercial #filmmaking #alcohol #novels #novel

  2. Hype for the Future 63D: City of Bangor, Maine (and Suburbs, etc.)

Introduction The City of Bangor is the third-largest city in the State of Maine and serves as the county seat of Penobscot County. Though Lewiston and Portland are larger cities, the City of Bangor is the furthest north of the three, and represents the chief settlement along the lower Penobscot River. City of Bangor The City of Bangor is located directly on the west bank of the Penobscot River and served largely by Interstate 95 and U.S. Route 1A, as well as by numerous more local routes […]

  3. It’s a moist heat that opens the pores. I’m on the #brewhouse @kererubrewing for the first time in years. I’ve got a fantastic trainee assistant #Brewer and their skills are at a base level of competency where I can hand off entire sub-processes and know they are being done safely and correctly.

40 days without a day off. This is getting to #Redfoo levels ridiculousness.

  4. I’m sitting on a forklift, in the sun, waiting for paperwork so that I can unload a shipping container. #Brewer #BeverageManufacture #KereruBrewing

  5. I’m back on the tools. Our lead #brewer is away and we need more #HazyIPA so I’ll be #brewing up a batch of #KereruRoundestBoi today.

  6. #Holly #Brewer is Burke Professor of American History and Associate Professor at the University of Maryland.

She is a specialist in early American history and the early British empire as well as early modern debates about justice.

Her first book traced the origin and impact of "democratical" ideas across  the empire by examining debates about who can consent in theory and legal practice:
By Birth or Consent: Children, Law, and the Anglo-American Revolution in Authority.

is currently finishing a book that examines the origins of American slavery in larger political and ideological debates:

    It is tentatively entitled
"Slavery & Sovereignty in Early America and the British Empire,”
for which she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2014.

She published part of it as "Slavery, Sovereignty and 'Inheritable Blood': Reconsidering John Locke and the Origins of American Slavery"
in the American Historical Review (October 2017).

Also see her “Slavery-Entangled Philosophy: Does Locke’s Entanglement with Slavery Undermine his Philosophy?” AEON, September 12, 2018.

  7. @futurebird I remember the moment, as an adult, when I realised I was using trigonometry for particle #VFX work.

And then I found that I’ve been solving for x and dealing with fractions and percentage solutions continuously over the past 14 years as a commercial #brewer.

I had no idea about the practical application of mathematics that would be used all the time when I was 15 (and sadly, neither did my teachers). Learning the power and utility of #maths could have been a blast!

  8. @Flominator Thanks for the support!
Probably extremely obvious that the topic for March was my choice. 😉

Also no surprise that my favorite #Brewer is an #Appalachian by way of #Germany:

#Carlsberg ‘shocked’ at seizure of russian subsidiary

#Brewer seeks to engage with russian authorities in the hope of selling #Baltika Breweries

Carlsberg chief executive Cees ’t Hart said the brewer was “shocked” at the seizure of its russian subsidiary, Baltika Breweries

Hart said that Baltika, which comprises eight breweries employing 8,000 staff, had not been nationalised but was still under state management

  10. Beer O'Clock on Mefi

"From my personal experience brewing alone and with better brewers, these are some advantages that a home brewer can have over a big brewery ..."

In the Anchor Brewing Co. closure thread, Dr. Curare has a great in-depth comment on home brewing that should be fascinating even to non-aficionados.
