  3. CW: Disability, Games, Feelings not Solutions
There's a thing that happens, once I'm close to someone new who also plays WoW, where they suggest doing content together, and I have to open up the disability can of worms.

I did that this morning for someone, and I'm glad I did. They understood the trust that takes and have been nothing but kind and warm and accommodating.

I should be, and often am, proud of the way I've had success in WoW in the past. That I've built a UI and skills and tools that have let me do all kinds of cool shit in this game.

But those accommodations largely stopped working as the game finally became too complex, and we're going into an expansion centered on 3D flying and a new physics-based flying environment. A dear friend took me into the beta to "see how I felt" about dragonriding and soar. And it just freaked me out.

    That's upsetting.

Which brings with it two feelings:

    1) I've watched my friends (including the young, brash, competitive ones) go to bat for folks with visual and spatial issues going into Dragonflight - even as dragonriding is something they're all massively excited for, and I know I'm at least part of the reason for that

Which makes me proud of my friends, and feel loved.

But 2) my favorite game, that I've spent almost two decades playing, is already more or less something I can't enjoy without a lot of help.

Which is really hard to sit with.

I don't need answers right now. Just having lots of feelings as I watch everyone super excited to go do something that feels like I will be excluded from. (And I'll admit, I don't know that's true yet! I have wonderful friends who want to help! Doesn't stop the feelings from happening!)
