There comes that realization your bodum is actually older than most of your co-workers.

I wanted to share that I’ve put in this vintage Bodum coffeemaker at a Catawiki auction. ☕️Let the bidding begin 😎😅

BIG trip down memory lane. I remembered writing an article about Bodum 2 decades ago, around the time the eSantos came out. Thanks to Archive dot org, I found it.
Why I Love Bodum, by Mark Prince, 2002.

2002 was a very interesting and innovative year for Bodum. Back then, they were still fully developing interesting products (today, they mainly buy China-made stuff and rebrand it).
In 2002, they introduced:
- Bodum eSantos
- Bodum eSantos Mini
- The Pavina Line of double wall glass cups, incl espresso
- The first double-walled glass press pot
- three "rapid heat" cordless kettles for coffee making, incl a travel size (mostly plastic)The Pavina cups remain some of the best glass espresso cups you can buy today, and a lot cheaper than the weirdo, oversized stuff from Kruve and others. And at just $16 for a pair, it's a deal:

The Bodum eSantos is a very interesting beast. They sold the electric Santos in various forms (including Apple iMac colours!) for about 7 years. But for just 2 of those years, they also did a mini model, and only in two colours (clear, smoke grey). I have both.
Bodum used an angled interior base to determine automatically when to shut the water heater off. Two temperature probes under the hot pad, one higher up, one lower down. As water boiled off, and the water level lowered, the upper probe would register over 105C, and shut the heater off, completing the brew.
Lots of plastic too, but BPA free, apparently.

I am sad to report the coffee maker does not come with this Bodum employee…
Anyway here’s a brief overview of how this works → https://youtu.be/klOwWljOfNY

The attached photo here is my* actual #Bodum #frenchpress. I bought mine about a decade ago. The design is not new.Haven't used it in a few years.
Honestly, instant #coffee ain't so bad. After so many years of not drinking instant coffee, I rediscovered #Nescafe during this #COVID19 #NewNormal lifestyle. Not bad at all. 👍

I only know the one #CoffeeGrinder I have. It's a #Hario -- hand-cranked (because I love stuff that don't require batteries) and travel-sized (because it was purchased in my previous life 🤪). And my #CoffeeMaker was a travel-sized, single-serve #Bodum #FrenchPress.
If you don't want to spend extra energy grinding #coffee than you'll probably want a powered one. Probably not vital which brand you choose. I think some people just choose based on aesthetics. -
