Chess set ready now, converted to our ink/paint style. Which is just Blender Internal toon shader and Freestyle ink lines.

Okay, yeah, that worked fine. I just selected the left face and flipped the UV map. Since the pattern is symmetric, it looks just fine.

Now, I just need to find and convert some chess pieces.

Also, probably look up a chess game or chess problem or something. Should be about midway through a game, I guess. I do know how to play chess, but I'm not really into it.

Messing with new assets, because I decided I needed that cutaway after all. I had this shot planned way back at the beginning. Then took it out. But I think it has to be back in.

This was a really nice looking folding chess board model from Simon Repp on BlendSwap.

I unfolded it to use for my scene, though, and... um... I think I may have detected a problem...

I guess maybe I can just flip the UV pattern for one side..? 🤔
