Finished Beacon Pines. Really enjoyed how the game approached choices with consequences, would love to see it in more games. To be fair, a larger game with larger decision tree would need more elaborate reminder system on what happened in which branch.
Also, I felt that this decision tree approach really helped to shape the horror-ish vibe of the story while keeping the main plot less tragic. For me personally, that is a major bonus.

Luka and his best friend find themselves in the middle of investigating goings-on in their small town of Beacon Pines.
The game is bittersweet, and I'm interested to see where it goes from here.

Ukończyłem dzisiaj Beacon Pines, i mam wrażenie że po raz kolejny trafiam na grę perełkę tylko i wyłącznie dzięki uprzejmości innych ludzi, i tym że podzielili się nią gdzieś online. Jest to ogromnie smutne, bo gra jest wyjątkowa.
Ale do rzeczy - w grze wcielamy się w postać Luki, który wraz ze swoimi przyjaciółmi przypadkiem wplątuje się w jakąś grubymi nićmi szytą sprawę w swoim niewielkim mieście; i jak to na dzieci przystało - dochodzą do wniosku że przecież mogą ją rozwiązać sami.
Z mechanicznego punktu widzenia, losy głównych bohaterów to tak naprawdę czytana przez narratora książka która my piszemy razem z nim. Od czasu do czasu, historia trafia na rozdroże, i to wtedy my musimy zdecydować w jakim kierunku chcemy ją popchnąć, dobierając jedno brakujące słowo w książce.
Koniec książki nadchodzi jednak zadziwiająco szybko, co zdecydowanie nie podoba się naszemu narratorowi, dlatego też pozwala on nam cofnąć się do wspomnianych wyżej rozdroży, i wybrać inne słowo, aby poprowadzić fabułę w innym kierunku, licząc na to że “THE END” nie nastąpi tym razem tak prędko.
Ten zabieg powoduje że historia staje się nieliniowa, a czasami pewne wydarzenia których świadkami byliśmy wcześniej w ogóle nie maja już sensu po poprowadzeniu fabuły innym torem. Genialny zabieg!
Gra jest przepiękna graficznie, a odgrywana w tle muzyka zawsze idealnie pasuje do atmosfery która panuje w danym momencie naszej książki. Do tego wciągająca fabuła i świetnie skrojone postacie, sprawiają że jest to według mnie gra obowiązkowa!
