Debarked a log from a tree I felled a while back. Had to cut down plenty because they were sick. A bark beetle epidemic in the area halved wood production.
Anyway, you can see the intricate tunnel system they dug under the bark. I read the book The Surprising Lives of Bark Beetles, open to being convinced that they're actually great bugs not worth setting up traps for. I wasn't convinced.
