  1. @potus who put out a statement that says Biden will "write" instead of "right" wrongs???

Whoever edits this needs to actually READ it before hitting "send"

    #badediting

The sad part is how few will notice and of those who do, many will just shrug and say "so what?"

    #WhatWeHaveHereIsAFailureToCommunicate well.

  6. Context: In front of a PIN pad they’ve forgotten the code for.

“Last time, it was the year Freddie Mercury died, wasn’t it?” Ryan nodded. “Before then, it was Whitney Houston,” he muttered. “You might have guessed, he likes to commemorate the deaths of his favourite musicians.”

They need a number. They mention “the year [X] died” (“Maybe famous deaths?”), give us a second mention (“Famous singer deaths!”), and now we can mentally join the dots without the bold text.

  9. Oooh, I thought of another #badediting example. When an editor says "I don't like this particular word, I find it squicky, you shouldn't use it", when it's being used appropriately and is in context, and their only actual objection is their personal feelings. Editing must, must, must be an exercise in setting aside the editor's ego and personal preferences. I struggle with this myself, tbh, when I edit other people! It's still bad practice. #editing #writing

  14. I'll start. I find editorial comments in all caps to be horribly aggressive and anxiety inducing. A good editor should never ever do that. It's literally yelling at the author and dear God just no. No no no. It takes me days to recover from that. Anyone else encounter that style? #badediting #editing #writing #anxiety
