I made our church administrator a waste management dumpster truck piñata and I suspended it from the ceiling in her office. I also helpfully left a bat on her desk. Note the bin the truck is hoisting is on fire.
WM has earned the pounding the pinata/effigy is going to receive. To sweeten the deal, the pinata is filled with candy.

Here is my Superb Owl offering: a burrowing owl I made a few years ago from bakable polymerclay. All of my birds have antlers for...reasons, so the owl is, um, extra superb.

I started my Artrocity Studio about three years ago while I was still working. Since retiring two months ago, I joined https://delrayartisans.org/, an art co-op in NorthernVirginia. My first official exhibit entries, a pair of litter bugs, just sold in two days!

Artrocity Studio observes that insects (as well as other critters) evolved exterior colors, patterns, and shapes as camouflage to hide from predators.
What if insects continued evolving their camouflage for an urban environment? These insects have done so: an M&Ms bug, a Lottery Ticket moth and a scratch ticket butterfly; and a "FOUR LOCO Pregame Sour Blue Raz" beetle.
They are literally...litterbugs.
Trash picked up while on bicycle rides; wire (legs, antennas), air soft plastic BBs -- also found on the ground (eyes), and gobs of Elmer's Glue.

Artrocity Studio presents its latest hybrid critter, combining an Australian sugar glider (a marsupial similar to a flying squirrel) and a Guernsey cow to make...a cream-and-sugar glider.
I imagine someone on a deck, reading a book when a large shadow passes over them. As the person looks up, a 1,000 pound creature forcefully lands on the lawn and starts grazing...

Artrocity Studio presents the sixth and likely last of a series of snails that for inexplicable reasons have household appliances on their backs instead of shells. The final snail has a washing machine. In a somewhat naughty move I put a red sock on top of a load of white clothes.

I had some downtime at work this past week, so I started sketching a new absurd idea: snails with household appliances on their backs instead of shells.
I just finished the fist snail, which, for some reason, has a crockpot on its back.

For inexplicable reasons, all Artrocity Studio birds have antlers. I decided to dig deeper to explore this evolutionary curiosity.
After exhaustive research, I found the "missing link," a squirrel-sized dinosaur with feathers and...antlers!
The Curator at the Nottingham Natural History Museum, Wollaton Hall, U.K., palentologist @AdamStuartSmith, named it "Cornucervinumavis Saliens" or "Leaping Antler Bird."
It is placed in the Mesozoic Era, some 125 million years ago.
This priceless authentic, simulated fossil could revolutionize how science rationalizes these weirdo birds.

Artrocity Studio presents the second in a series of Christmas ornaments that are, in fact eggs with critters who want out. This time it is a tiny green dragon. If you examine the inside, edges, and outside of the ornament/shell, you can see the scorch marks (which I applied by burning paper under the shell parts).

Welp, I can't help but notice the latest Halloween fad of plastic animal skeletons with.. skeleton ears. As my daught said " That's not how that works; that's not how any of that works."
I decided, in the name of consistency, to make some paper mache ears, which I painted and glued to a Halloween human skull.
Looks pretty dopey, yes?

Artrocity Studio presents its latest project: a Christmas ornament that also happens to be an egg. Apparently, an octopus is in the egg, and it wants out. Now.
Wire, aluminum foil, and paper mache. Acrylic paint and fixer. Fun note: the 3 1/2 inch "egg shell" halves are empty firework mortar shells I ordered online.

Artrocity Studio presents its latest creation: a porcupine!
I am at a church retreat in the mountains of piedmont Virginia. In an ice breaker, we had to take a puzzle piece featuring an animal that we identified with. Our church administrator chose a porcupine, because she "could be prickly on the outside, but satiny smooth on the inside." (She truly is a wonderful person).
I borrowed flour from the kitchen, used crafting glue and water to make a paper mache mix. I used wadded paper and masking tape (no armature!) For the body, clad it with paper mache, and then attached pine needles with a hot glue gun.
I've never made a critter in such a short amount of time (about three hours). I will present the porcupine to her tonight.

Here is the latest from Artrocity Studio. About a month ago, I saw an image of a cowboy riding a bucking bronco, and I morphed it into a cartoonish rat in cowboy garb riding a realistic-looking bucking jackrabbit (or jillrabbit if it is a girl).
New challenges included making a cowboy saddle, hat, and boots out of cardboard, making rat hands (paws?) From paper mache, and figuring out a horse-like bridle and reins (cardboard and string) for the jillrabbit.

Here is the latest from the Artrocity Studio. Cherished, honorary nieces gave me some marbles for Christmas in hopes I would use them as eyes in some art project. So I made a toad with marble eyes. The toad will be a gift for them; I hope they'll like it.

Jiminy Crickets! ANOTHER Artrocity Studio offering: "Barbie's Dino-rama."
I find department store toy departments are still sex segregated, which is dated and, well, sexist. I decided to mix things up, with two barbies on the hunt with their dinosaurs. They hit paydirt: the dinos are feasting on a Star Wars Imperial officer, who is being mauled and who has just had a leg torn off. Sad!
Barbies, Star Wars doll, dinosaurs (with pink Barbie saddles!), menacing toy blaster, sassy attitudes.

My latest creation from the Artrocity Studio: a mobile featuring winged slugs flying around a container of Morton's Salt.
Just as moths are lured to deadly flames, so these slug are attracted to their potential doom: salt.
Slugs paint designs: zebra, toucan, flower power, Jackson Pollock splash, banana, and bombardier (why, yes, it *is* carrying a bomb).
Mobile: trimmed, painted yardsticks, bolts, and wire.
Slugs: aluminum foil, Sculpey Premo polymer clay, acrylic paint and fixer.

The story behind my latest Artrocity Studio creation:
My sister asked me to make her a dragon.
She didn't say what *kind* of dragon.
Since our last name is Guernsey, I decided to make her a Guernsey cow-dragon.
The cow-dragon has a scorpion tail and spikey teats on her udder, so you might want a first aid kit handy when trying to milk her. (I imagine she produces some sort of potent alcoholic milk).

My latest Artrocity Studio work: demonic Pop-Tart and Twinkie snack food mimics! I suppose you could say they're snack foods so bad for you they bite back. I enjoy making them look as lifelike as possible -- except for the beady eyes, sharp teeth, and devil tails.

I decided to create a series of lifesize birds with antlers. This burrowing owl is my first work. It is made of paper, aluminum foil, masking tape, and Sculpey Premo polymer clay. Painted with acrylic.
