👨⚖️📚 Oh goody, nothing like a #judge swooping in to save #PBS from its own #archival incompetence. But first, let's all pause for a moment to enable #JavaScript and cookies—because even legal #drama needs a digital snack 🍪🤦♂️.

Well, I'm very impressed with the #ArchiveBox upgrade story. Went from 0.7.x to 0.9.35rc203 and the process was relatively painless (I upgraded my debian testing box and got bumped to python 3.14; the 0.7.x branch only supports up to 3.13; I didn't want to try downgrading so I said "fuck it we ball" on upgrading archivebox instead). The interface is upgraded quite a bit. It looks like old snapshots, when doing the "re-snapshot" action, might get their configs mixed a bit, but I guess that's to be expected; perfect migrations are basically impossible. The "depth" of the crawl in that scenario seems to default to 1, rather than 0, meaning I didn't just grab the main URL of the snapshot like before but started grabbing 180+ other URLs one hop away.
I'll fiddle with it more later, but for now, I'm optimistic about continuing to use it for archival. They've embraced a plugin architecture too that has waaaay more archivers/extractors/parsers/what-nots than before. Maybe I can finally start to "fire-and-forget" for the major sites without constantly babying the snapshots.
