13 degrees Celsius in the morning! What a bliss to run in this weather! And I’m inching closer to that 5,000 kilometers milestone (funny: *inching* + *kilometers* + *milestone* in one sentence). The early bird, well, the *earlier-than-before* bird (me) ventured out for a nice run. Again, I alternated within my usual 25K route (success), so I was able to take a pic of one of my favorite trees around here: a Sequoia. This usually brings back fond memories of California. Yesterday‘s hip pain is almost gone, just a faint throbbing in the background. So it was the right decision to cut some distance yesterday. And I did the same today, so as not to fall back into that old pattern of more and ever more. I switched to a very old route, one I haven’t used in months. My hip decided to cause some pain and weakness, so I cut short my run and only did a half-marathon. That was enough. Now I‘ll let my hip rest for a bit.
I have been thinking on this for some time now: I‘ll drop the daily half-marathons for a daily run with a fixed time (instead of a distance). That will give me at least one more hour of sleep each night. And, once I‘ve broken the psychological circle of *having to run at least 21.1 K*, I‘ll be open for other distances. #Running #Coros #Apex4

My hip decided to cause some pain and weakness, so I cut short my run and only did a half-marathon. That was enough. Now I‘ll let my hip rest for a bit.

Call me SLEEP MASTER — even Apple Health awarded me with a score of 96/100 for my exquisite sleeping performance. 💪🏻 And then I ran, quite a windy weather today, resulting in considerably lower temperatures. Yay! The wind kept me going steadily, and it felt absolutely great! And I met some of the nicest neighbors (both were/are runners) on the way. Great Sunday! #Running #coros #apex4 #sleep

This has been the last day of school for this summer. I was up at 2:20 am, warmed up, ran, showered, cycled to school at 6:35, loaded lots of equipment into a van, drove over to the concert hall for our closing ceremony, afterwards back with all the stuff to our school. There: closing ceremony for the staff – with music. Then: Home (cycling at 34 deg C). Sleep. Bliss. More sleep tonight! #running #apex4 #coros #school #sleep #music

When I got up at around 7am after about eight hours of sleep, it was absolutely pouring down outside. So I did some of my work first, then warmed up and went outside. My timing was right, not a drop of rain on me during the run. And it was a good one, getting me to the end of THE WISE MAN‘S FEAR by Patrick Rothfuss… Now I‘ll have to decide on which audiobook to listen to next. When I got up at around 7am after about eight hours of sleep, it was absolutely pouring down outside. So I did some of my work first, then warmed up and went outside. My timing was right, not a drop of rain on me during the run. Quite a fast one (for me) today. On a 750 meters long steep climb, I ran past a cyclist whom I met later on on top of the hills, both of us smiling broadly. But I was really happy to keep my speed up: Usually, I get up there with a pace of 5:50-6:10, today it was 5:11 – yay! My current audiobook (THE NAME OF THE WIND by Patrick Rothfuss) is ideal to push me on. And I even managed to do my #RopeSkipping afterwards. #Running #coros #Apex4 #audiobooks

It was a little cooler this morning – and I was able to finish the whole run before the sun got out. Grrrrreat! Unfortunately, it has grown increasingly warmer again over the course of the day. And a mere 3-5 minutes of rain didn’t lower temperatures, it just increased humidity and dampness. Weird! But it’s only two more days until I‘ll be at 4,000 kilometers of #Running in 2026, which is a cool thing to boast about. 😜 #coros #apex4 #summer #heat

One of the hottest days EVER in Germany. Last night, we broke the heat record for the warmest night ever recorded. Great, I sleep under the roof. After our trip to Frankfurt and bringing our youngest daughter home, we arrived at 1:00 am at home. I went straight to bed, got up at 4:50 am again. Any later time would have made #Running impossible for me. Even so it was 20+ degrees Celsius (and the sun wasn’t out yet). I did it, now I won’t move anymore for the rest of the day… #coros #apex4 #heat

One of the hottest days EVER in Germany. Last night, we broke the heat record for the warmest night ever recorded. Great, I sleep under the roof. After our trip to Frankfurt and bringing our youngest daughter home, we arrived at 1:00 am at home. I went straight to bed, got up at 4:50 am again. Any later time would have made #Running impossible for me. Even so it was 20+ degrees Celsius (and the sun wasn’t out yet). Oooooh, I overslept! Until I got out of the house, it was after 6:30 am, so the sun was already out and heating everything up. Luckily, most of my route leads me through the woods, so I‘m in the shade, but it was humid and hot anyway.
This evening, our youngest daughter will return from her six months stay in #Malta – and we’ll give her a ride home from the airport. Looking very much forward to this!

But even trying to go higher would have constituted a folly, so I just kept trodding on leisurely. My #apex4 is now under 5% battery, so I guess, I’ll need to charge it later today. The last time was on Wednesday, the week before the week ending today. #coros

After temperatures have risen sharply here in Germany, I cut short my night‘s sleeptime and went for an early run to avoid the blazing 30+ degrees C expected for today… And it was a good decision, since even that way I was sweating profusely. Afterwards, I managed to get my 2,100+ jumps in – but it was the first time this week (my back is not in cooperative mode right now). #Running #Coros #Apex4 #JumpRope

It was a gentle run into the sunrise today. Nothing too special, not fast, not slow, just a good old run for fun. It’s bright enough to take pics at 4:30 am, and so I did. My night was pretty awful: I was extremely tired, but kept on turning around in my bed for what felt like hours. This happens only once or twice per year, it’s no pleasure, no matter when it strikes. #Running and #RopeSkipping done for today – this week was filled with a lot of satisfying work: We built a new wall in our very large basement room and made two rooms out of it. I can still feel some of that work in every part of my body (and in my bruised left thumb), but it was worth the three days of almost constant work. #coros #apex4

Ah, missed out on a glorious 666 kilometers this month by .5 kilometers. I promise to do better next month… 😈 Putting fun aside for a moment: It really is a little cooler today, so we’re only at 22 degrees C right now. I’m kinda looking forward to next week, there’s a prediction of almost daily rainfall. That should bring some cool back to this place.
