Not the first time a picture of me with a drum has been spotted in the wild, but perhaps the first time while at a technical conference.

I went to the #AONW conference last week, and I've got a whole jumble of feelings in response to it.
Success! I went to a whole conference (roughly 23 hours over three days) with a bunch of other humans and had an overall positive experience!
It was AONW's first in-person conference since the pandemic hit, so I wasn't alone in my *just now crawling out from under my rock* feeling.
It was reassuring to see some familiar faces, and refreshing to make new connections with other like-minded folk.
And yet, a feeling of disconnect too. It's been a while since I've been a part of the kind of team that people talk about here. Some of these things I have a hard time relating to *any* organization I've been in. And I'm not sure I left with a better picture of next opportunities than I arrived with.

Agile Open Northwest was loads of fun. Met some great people. Saw some familiar faces. And, finally met some folks I’ve followed for a while in person(h/t @qcoding).
Evening coding sessions were also interesting to participate in.
Good feedback on the session I did on The 5 Ps and the one Becca and I did together as The Irreverent Agilists: No Spikes in the Mosh Pit.

I've been in Portland this week for Agile Open Northwest #AONW This was the first in-person event they've run since covid and was really great to all be back again. So many fabulous conversations on topics ranging from FaST Agile to metrics to psychology to forecasting to AI.

Next up will be Agile Open Canada in Victoria in May.

Did a joint session with my Adventure Life Partner (TM), Becca yesterday at Agile Open Northwest.
The title?
“No Spikes in the Mosh Pit”
We had a great group and conversations about organized chaos, self-management, and misconceptions. Oh…and we talked about corporate play as well.

Trying to rest after the first day of Open Agile Northwest. It’s been too long since I’ve been to a conference! #AONW

If the best part of most conferences is the hallway conversations, Open Space is a way to have a conference that is entirely hallway conversations. #AONW

I'm planning to emerge from beneath the rock I've been living under to attend Agile Open Northwest this week.
Maybe I'll see some of you there?
