We didn't tried, we are just experiencing mob programming. And of course the junior asked "is it really an efficient way to produce those 20 lines of code in like 4h at 3?" So I had to explain the difference between individual productivity and efficiency (yes, I needed to start with "actually producing lines of code, or even features, is not being efficient because /waving to user needs, product consistency, maintenance, group mental model and evolution sustainability and any things being more than the sum of individual immediate output.

And I was thinking, well, perhaps wd should try exploring code with llm in mob. The agent look at some feature /module, and the we try to make sense of what it says in group. Perhaps that would better help at least that junior see the value of group inputs.

So... A long answer to say "no" :)

Also : you correctly point oit that all the current hype and incentives pushed by the big ai shop is around individualism (don't depend on those pesky dev, be the 10x dev you always dreamed of, do the dashboards you needed without the editor in the loop, etc)

If we want to not loose everything, we must push more collaboration on the contrary. Individualism is the death of societies and collaboration.

So yes, go ahead with your mob vibing

We’re trying it out in-person this week and the social dynamics feel very similar to traditional mob programming.

Maybe one difference is that the resistance seems even stronger. I suspect that’s because LLMs have raised expectations around individual productivity, making it even harder to justify slowing down and working as a group.

Has anyone else observed this?

0 days since hearing someone say "pair programming is not enough, a pull request has to be made anyway so someone fresh can review the code!"

PR is waste. PR is too late. PR is too little. Reviews after the fact are fine, but should not be blocking, unless someone worked solo. "Fresh eyes" is a fallacy and mostly offers nothing else than manual nitpicks.
