  1. I got the hardware swapped over to the 7100/80 and everything buttoned back up.

I couldn't help myself...I swapped the 7100/66 top case. That Sonnet badge is too cool for school. 😎:apple_inc:

  6. I think I'm gonna chuck the Crescendo and the Nubus card in the 80MHz machine or now, and keep an eye out for AV/HPV Card Video Adapter Kit in the future. :D :apple_inc:

  11. Okay, Apple Retro Gang. Assemble! I need advice.:D

I have two Power Macintosh 7100s. The one on the left in the first pic is a 7100/66, the right is a 7100/80.

The 66Mhz has a 250Mhz G3/L2 Crescendo card installed in its PDS slot, and a RADIUS INC ACCELERATED 24-BIT GRAPHICS I/F NuBUS video card. The 80Mhz has a stock Apple Power Macintosh 7100 VRAM expansion card and no processor card installed.

My goal is to put the best hardware of both machines into one. But will that Crescendo perform better in the 80 vs. the 66? And if so, am I losing something using the Radius card and losing the VRAM expansion?

Should I just leave everything as is?

More deets in the ALT text. :) :apple_inc:

  16. This has been sitting on the workbench for a couple of weeks now. I should probably get it sorted.

It's a daunting task because I've gotta figure out the hardware and get software for it, etc. I probably should go with the 7100/80 over the 7100/66, yeah? :) :apple_inc:

  21. A little update on the 7100/66 with the Sonnet card. I think it's missing an external HDD that has all the Applications and such; it keeps getting referenced as missing whenever I browse the Menu.

This one I might just have to nuke and start from scratch. :) :apple_inc:

  31. There's a...timbre (oomph) to the music played through these speakers. It's so good. They sound muuuuch better than the foamy failures in the previous G3's.

It would be cool to keep this setup somewhere in a corner of the shop to play tunes...maybe even locate a FireWire iPod to pair with it. 😌

And while I deeply miss the CRT of the G3...this machine is so danged zippy. :) :apple_inc:
