I'm going through some firewall reconfigurations for two #Ubiquiti #Unifi appliances that link two sites together via their site-to-site VPN. Part of what I'm doing is finally locking down some #Amcrest cameras so they can't be naughty and talk to the internet constantly.

It's like whack-a-mole with all of the places those cameras try to connect to!

Three different Amcrest servers.

Three different time servers including one that's been offline for YEARS.

A local IP address that is beyond the network's addresses.

And so much more!

Unless I want to setup a Radius server which feels needlessly complex for a home network, I would need to replace five POE+ switches and several regular switches at the remote site to get everything within the Unifi realm to make configuration more straightforward. The current switches are a hodgepodge of Netgear and TPLink which yes I could make work with the Unifi Network system but it's a real PITA to do the configurations.

If I did replace the switches or go to a Radius server configuration, then I could more easily put the Amcrest cameras on their own VLAN and run a LXC in ProxMox to be the DNS and gateway for those cameras and blackhole anything trying to leave the network.

Without that, I'm constantly trying to add these different annoying external queries to various rules in Unifi Network so I don't get bombarded with notification alerts. I wish Unifi had a "mute" option for specific alerts to specific IP addresses.
