So after cleaning out my partner's dad's home we found some #AIWA Stereo Players (technically 3 speakers).
At first I thought it was some knock-off brand, because I've never heard of it before.
Before we tossed them to the curb I gave a listen and they sounded so damn good. I mean compared to the on-board #MacMini or #SteamDeck speakers.
So they're now my desktop speakers via Aux to Headphone jack.

Well, $$ expensive full kit for belts. Wonder if there is another source for this. Since the last time I played a tape was a couple of decades ago, lol. May try a cheap generic belt kit first (though one of those is apparently longer than generics... 210mm?), before shelling out $55 (also have to pay shipping). Also will get the CD working FIRST.

Anyway, the guy I bought it from pleaded with me not to throw it in the trash, asked me that if I didn't fix it to try to give it away on Craiglist etc. 🤷
I reassured him that all I do with my spare time is try to fix things, lol. (Pretty sure I will have this running soon). Tape player turns on, but the capstans aren't turning. Sounds like broken belts, which I assume can still be purchased....
