The worst case scenario is "Secret AI" by Militaries around the world.

I am 100% positive this form of AI will cause immense harm.

I am fairly sure that a diaspora of AI can save us all.

AI isn't like NUKES, AI is like Fire. You fight bad fire, with lots of small good fires.

We need a pause in neoliberal capitalism.

It's an experiment whose results are already clear, overwhelming, and species-threatening.

Some political economist typed a command into a system of laws as it was going exponential and now we are all being transformed into paperclips (gig workers with no agency) serving superhuman corporations that have crashed the climate and may drive us into global thermonuclear war.

Allyn [re the "AI pause" letter]: Hinton refused to sign the letter, because it didn't make sense to him.

Hinton: The research will happen in China if it doesn't happen here. Because there's so many benefits of these things. Such huge increases in productivity.
