  1. Debating nuking #activitydesk in favor of throwing my support behind Michabo tbh. @kaniini's made a lot of progress in a short period of time that took me WAY longer because of my estoric tool choices (Qt + Rust). The tooling is not yet there _yet_ for Qt in Rust.

  2. I just started thinking about things like profile caching, interaction logic and what not for #activitydesk. This is going to be a lot of work for an alpha. But it's working!

  3. so if you wanna talk #activitydesk, I made a #matrix room for (#activitydesk:kde.org). There's also a underused IRC room on Freenode at ##activitydesk.

  4. Yo so re: #activitydesk v2.jacky.wtf/post/5676a37b-b01

#rust #rustaceans if y'all got some experience with multi threading with the language lemme know cuz a brother is stumped and needs to do client work lol

  5. Right now, there's a bit of a nasty "freeze" when #activitydesk starts if you have accounts. need to figure that out.

  6. CW: programming, activitydesk

Okay, so I'm getting stuck on messaging passing between threads in #rust for #activitydesk. I think I might make something to eat, read a bit and then come back to this. I feel like this _should_ be more simple but I also am 'learning' the language by building something with it.

  7. That said, I'm testing out how #activitydesk works so far. The feed works in 'real time' for Mastodon; I haven't implemented my #microsub one yet (that's how I use silos without directly interfacing with them from my site).

  8. #activitydesk can stream timelines (as supported by #elefren). I just need to figure out messaging between threads and the UI to add and remove stuff.

*takes notes and file for another day*

  9. I do want a potential #activitypub #c2s library and I think I might have to work on this for #rust so I can get it working in #activitydesk. But this is what it takes - building blocks indieweb.org/building-blocks to allow people to build other things.

  10. I'm really grateful for the hard work that the library authors of #elefren in #rust have done. Because of this, there's automatic support for streaming in #activitydesk with very little effort. I should have a TL for myself built by the end of the week.

  11. Still can't view feeds from #activitydesk. Got distracted by fedi drama :/

  12. Okay, time to work on fetching "streams" from social networks. Going to work on the Masto-compat one then implement a Microsub client for #activitydesk

  13. I'm still looking to add cohesion to #activitydesk. Namely, going to add proper support for adding images to it.

  14. Might need some testers for #ActivityDesk next week. Specifically Linux / BSD systems (macOS if you're comfortable with building apps from source - looking to get builds via homebrew)

  15. If you wanna follow the stuff I'm doing around #activitydesk check out v2.jacky.wtf/tags/931e7ec6-bac! I don't have immediate feed generation for tags just yet

  16. #activitydesk #activitypub

it's still very early and requires both Rust and Qt but here it is: cgit.kde.org/scratch/jalcine/a

still investigating wrapper libraries versus building it from scratch

  17. @sean Holy shit.

yes. This would be amazing for #ActivityDesk.

This is the kind of shit I'm talking about.

  18. Just published "Koype v0.1.0, ActivityDesk and You" on #patreon!

You've seen me talk about #koype and more recently #activitydesk a lot. This post gives more context on them!

  19. Namely outside of #Koype, there's also (working title) #ActivityDesk and about three more in-design projects I have! This stuff is taking up all of my free time and I love it lol.
