and so I dont need to buy new pippetset, PCR machine, gel doc, behaviour incubators, chemicals, new rigs and rack for ephys...etc I just bought in what is needed and I share them too, Yes, I did not get shining new toys for myself in a newly refurbished space, but I think this is more environmentally friendly approach and more resilient as a provincial univeristy department. #acadamicchatter -

Hi #acadamicchatter #UKHE folks, wondering if anyone has a good idea to deal with #ChatGPT dilemma on course work assessment ( need to be essay based)? We are reviewing our final year UG assessment, and cannot quite decide to ban or allow ChatGPT? Do we have clear detection tools now for ChatGPT?

I should be writing my thesis. So far I managed to
1. Open the .Rmd file.
2. Copy and paste content from a previous paper I'll use as raw material for the introduction.
3. Stare at it intently for an hour.
4. Post this on mastodon. -
We are looking for another PhD student for our group to use systems biology to understand host-microbe interactions in a diabetes mellitus context:
https://jobs.uksh.de/job/Kiel-Doctoral-position-%28mfd%29-in-Microbiome-Intervention-Design-Schl-24105/979425901/
You will use constrained based modelling to predict these interactions and predict targeted microbiome interventions for diabetes type 2 therapy. The project is lead by @kaletalab and is carried out in collaboration with Martin von Bergen (UFZ Leipzig)

Interested in modeling metabolic microbiome-host interactions? Then apply for a DFG funded PhD position with me in Kiel (Germany): https://tinyurl.com/3k5t4724 We will use metabolic modeling to understand bacterial community dynamics in the host Hydra under changing environmental conditions. Super nice group, appreciative environment and great city to live in by the Baltic Sea.
Please share and boost!
