#52maps week 39 - Hierarchy: This map shows all "roads" in Belgium according to OpenStreetMap, but I coloured the biggest roads in a lighter colour and local tracks and paths in the darkest color. It gives a nice overview of the important places in the country.

#52maps week 25 - Contrast: 10 years ago I made a "tile map" of Belgian provinces. For this #52maps map I used that as a base map for a high contrast map of these provinces that shows a province in black if its capital has the same name as the province and in white if it hasn't.

The theme of week 11 of #52maps is : Negative Space. I used a watercolor image to cut a world map out. I preferred to keep the world map a tiny bit transparent.

The theme of week 10 of #52maps is : Centrality. This world map shows the countries of the world and their centroids in EPSG:8857. Some centroids do not overlap their countries' land masses. You can see that these are mainly island states and countries that still have colonies.

The theme of week 9 of #52maps was "Overlap". I made a map that shows the overlap between PFAS risk zones and kindergartens & primary schools in the city of Antwerp; Belgium.

The theme of week 8 of #52maps was "Reach". I made a map about how long it would take you to reach the State of the Map 2026 venue on foot. I made the 5 minute interval isochrones using the ORS Tools plugin for #QGIS that uses the #openrouteservice

The theme of week 7 of #52maps was "Adaptation". I made an adaptation of a map I made in 2016: a map with the dates of the most recent available Google Streetview images in the city of Antwerp (Belgium). Compared to my map of 10 years ago, the new map shows that today there are a lot more newer images that are only 1 or 2 years old.

While I love the #30DayMapChallenge, I couldn't fit it in my schedule last year. I like the idea of making for-fun-maps based on fixed themes.
