I didn't think I'd ever go to #GameholeCon. (Nothing pissed me off; just didn't seem worth the hassle.) But Allen Hammack is running my favorite #1e adventure (C2) and doing so in 1e. Note: He's its author. Really tempting. Still seems like a huge hassle just for a 4-hour table. 😉 #DnD #RPG #TTRPG #ADnD

I just learned that D&D 5e has a monster named "pit fiend" that I never knew about in my 1e bubble.
My pit fiend is based off an old monster minis set produced by Grenadier back in the 1980s under a separate label. Their Fantasy Monsters set had a "One Eyed Pit Monster".
In my Etinerra campaign, a pit fiend is a homebrew monster of Chaos.
Here's a link about that old boxed set that has several awesome figures!

Ho. Ly. Crap. This was fun. #1e #DnD game tonight. We played Rotting Toes by Erik Nowak tonight *in* character. I pulled out my poker chips so that we actually played, and in doing so shored up the rules. This could be the best dice game I've ever played. Link is to rules we started with, not the rules as perfected. https://gsllcblog.com/2013/01/21/rotting-toes-an-orcish-dice-game-dnd-4e-cc-erik_nowak/ #ADnD #RPG #TTRPG

I had some great old-school stuff come in this week! Before you ask the answer is yes! The Deities & Demigods is a First Print with Cthulhu and Melnibonean Mythoi. It is also in terrible shape, but if you have to have one...

Some great items are in stock this week, some First Edition goodness and some great magazines.
Here's what the editor said about the cover for Dungeon #29:
"This book is three days overdue! What do you mean you can't pay your fine???" Introducing Mr. Abe Ishai, M.L.S. (Master of Library Scariness) In Tom Baxa's cover painting for "Ex Libris." -
After the #1e #DnD game last night, some guys hung back, and we had a good conversation that reminded me about the argument that annoys me the most in the #RPG community: The notion that one edition or system is better for role-play than another. You can do heavy role-play in any edition or system. Each edition or system is what you make it. #TTRPG

Here are the new items available on #Etsy this week. More PHBR goodness, Rangers and Elves and Priests, oh my! A couple of classic adventures, and a copy of White Dwarf Magazine from the 80s.

While I mostly agree with this article, it only hints at something important to the discussion: Ability scores don't affect 1e mechanics nearly as much as in later editions. They primarily affect roleplay. Only real problem: class restriction, so in my #ADnD #1e game, it's 4d6 drop 1d. https://www.cbr.com/advance-dnd-1e-rolling-better-players-ttrpg/ #DnD #RPG #TTRPG
