I challenge the myth that we must choose between efficiency and human rights. We won't 'magically' increase return numbers by tearing up the rulebook. Only a lawful, fair, and dignified return policy can deliver results. European leaders must govern with respect for #HumanRights, not by avoiding them.

I note the Foreign Affairs Committee's decision to advance a bill to withdraw #Latvia from the #IstanbulConvention for first plenary reading tomorrow. I call on parliamentarians to disregard the waves of disinformation and consider the hard-gained protection from gender-based violence for women and girls and the comprehensive framework the Istanbul Convention offers to safeguard #WomensRights.
