@inthehands My non-expert guess is we'll do the approach of letting temperatures rise dangerously, which will inspire inventions to deal with the problem as it becomes an emergency. From reading this I think #Nordhaus is basically right. I also agree with Ketcham that it would be better to act sooner, but I don't think it makes Nordhaus an idiot.

@rasterweb #GoogleSites made it easy to make the site for free and then offered a cheap and easy option to get a domain name. He put his debit card in and did it because he wanted something to tell people to go to. He was going to do IansCatSitting.com, and Google said he might want to consider IanCatSitting b/c it said the former reads like IanScatSitting, which Google said sounds related to Face Sitting. 🤣 I was impressed with Ian and Google.

@rasterweb My son, who is 14 y/o and more interested in law and business than tech, created a website for his catsitting without help using #GoogleSites. I was amazed. https://www.iancatsitting.com/

English often has a Latin-based elevated word and a Germanic word with a more gritty to-the-point connotation. Examples are cadaver/corpse, perspiration/sweat.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Germanic_and_Latinate_equivalents_in_EnglishIf #English had evolved into separate Germanic and Romance languages, maybe called #Anglish and Engles, I imagine seeing bilingual signs like this one at a bar in #Austin. #Linguistics

@inkican #StarTrek "Voyager finally abandoned the Kazon as a viable adversary in the season three premiere and never looked back."
The #Voyager was supposed to be fast ship. The #Kazon were supposed to be less advanced. So it seems like Voyager should be able pass through their territory in a couple of weeks at most. -

@Ailantd They need other rovers for support and to keep the operators from going crazy. I imagine this on Mars, with characters like those in #RedMars who travelled in rovers. The one in the drawing looks a little bigger: 2 levels of 500 sq.ft. each aft, one 100 sq.ft. control deck forward. It needs a machine shop, lab backup toilet, store room, air lock, galley, and quarters, all tiny. Reactor and drive are below. It sounds like exploration with time for introspection.
