    "En 2020, alors candidat à l’élection municipale, Grégory Doucet affirmait que « les animaux sauvages n’ont pas leur place dans des enclos », laissant ainsi entendre que s’il était élu, la Ville de Lyon pourrait enfin tourner la page du zoo. Cinq ans après son élection, les enclos du zoo municipal sont toujours là. Les animaux, eux, continuent d’y tourner en rond.
    Ainsi, selon le maire de Lyon, les animaux sauvages n’ont pas leur place dans des enclos… sauf quand c’est lui qui les y met !

    Mercredi dernier, le maire de Lyon organisait une réunion publique pour vanter les mérites de son bilan de mandat. Pancartes et tracts en main, les militant-es de PAZ se sont invité-es devant la salle où se tenait l’événement pour rappeler une fâcheuse vérité : le bilan de Monsieur Doucet est entaché de la souffrance des centaines d’animaux qu’il a décidé de laisser prisonniers du zoo lyonnais.

    Depuis des années, le maire de Lyon recycle une rhétorique aussi bancale que banale : si le zoo prive les animaux de leur liberté, c’est pour mieux les protéger. Faute de pouvoir converser avec Grégory Doucet, c’est à son adjoint délégué à la condition animale que notre chargée de campagne s’est adressée :
    Non, on ne protège pas les animaux en les faisant se reproduire, puis en les séparant de leurs petits.
    Non, on ne les préserve pas de l’extinction en les mettant en cage, et en ne les déplaçant que pour substituer des cages vitrées à d’autres.
    « Il n’y a pas de bonne raison de les enfermer. »

    En plus de rappeler Monsieur Doucet à ses belles déclarations de campagne, notre mobilisation du 11 juin a fait du bruit dans les médias. Quelques jours avant l’événement, Lyon Capitale a ainsi repris notre contre-discours à la fable municipale. Le jour J, le quotidien Le Progrès était présent pour relater l’événement dans son article papier du lendemain, ainsi que les résultats de notre étude IFOP prouvant que la majorité des Lyonnais-es sont favorables à tourner la page du zoo.
    En faisant la sourde oreille, Monsieur Doucet méprise les souffrances des animaux emprisonnés à Lyon, mais aussi l’avis des Lyonnaises et des Lyonnais. Le voilà, son vrai bilan concernant le zoo.

    Nous remercions les membres de PAZ, sans qui nos manifestations comme celle de Lyon se feraient sans pancarte, sans tract, et sans visibilité médiatique."
