Steamdeck shell swap time!
Ish, will be over a week that I do it. Whilst I wait for other mods to arrive I'll do some prep work.
It does look lovely though, and matches my N64 well.

This #ouya Video from Krazy Ken / Computer Clan is great.

So I've been using my Logitech G Cloud for a couple of days now.
Initial thoughts in comparison to steamdeck.
It's much lighter which makes it easier to hold.
It's smaller as well, which from some angles is easier to hold, and some angles less.Battery life is obviously a LOT better, I was only using my deck for streaming but was using about 20% an hour Vs around 10%.

Bit too late to be here for christmas, but the PCBs for my #wmhclaw #claw_machine are on order.
Next to sort out the LCSC order.
-
Ok it doesn't look much different, and that's because it's not.
But this revision is 1CM smaller which fits it into the magical 10x10 most pcb companies reduce the price of boards for.
-
Ok so now the PCB is designed, I guess the next decision to make is weather I should get JLC to pre-assemble them or not.
Lets see how this goes pricing wise.

Ok now I'm going with Pico, time to start again with designing the #wmhclaw Circuit Board.
I'm ripping half of it up and changing IC choices to a few through hole components insteead to make it easier.
-
Had this arrive today, a Pi Pico respin that has 16MB of storage.
Should be ideal for the #wmhclaw project as it's got enough space for the audio samples.
It sacrificies WiFi but frees up enough pins from not needing an SD Card to store the audio files.

Following on from getting the coin mech working. I've been doing a little more work on my Claw PCB.
Been changing a few components to through hole to make soldering easier. Still torn about if I should use through hole ICs for the motor drivers too.
Would just make it that bit easier to repair.
-
Hmmph, it turns out the claw mechanism I got for #wmhclaw doesn't accept all the coins I had hoped for.
For some reason it's limited to just 3 different coins?
-
Bugger it, going to use a Zero as it makes a few things a lot easier.
Think i've almost got all pins done in the schematic ready for routing.

Changed from L293/SNsomething motor drivers to DRV8871s. Downside is SMD but an extra amp of capacity.
I'm going to try and design the board to be cheap enough to not need to worry about if it needs replacing.
This circuit needs checking though as I have a bodge resistor on the back between some of the diodes on the old version and I have no idea why.

So been working a little more on my Claw Machine today.
I realise that I should have maybe done a thread but I'm terrible with them, so I'm going to try and tag each toot with #wmhclaw.
The claw was originally by a company called WMH, they still sell claws with the most popular seeming to be the "Toy soldier" one like pictured.
