@GamesMissed I have 3 and built a community replacement server after the official #ouya server shut down in 2019.

Did anyone reading this ever have an #Ouya console? I remember that they looked interesting -- Towerfall (https://www.towerfall-game.com/) was originally an exclusive -- but then dropped off the radar. Well, if you want one, it may be at the Flea again later.

@kosinus I'd like to hear about the #ouya part.

I just cross-compiled a whole #NixOS installation with zero build errors. That's wild.

Also, it's running on an old #Ouya console. 🔥

@jdarnold @daemon_nova It'll download the latest firmware when you connect it to the #ouya community server. Early firmwares had their share of problems, but the latest is very usable.

@daemon_nova oh man - the #Ouya! I pledged early and even had a monogrammed controller. What a piece of junk. Not sure I ever got it running well enough to actually play a game

@wesmason we have an #ouya community server at http://ouya.cweiske.de/ that lets you resurrect the ouyas and download + play all the games again.

Sometimes I dig at home and find stuff I have. Sometimes I just need to move something.

I still have the console. I may have a second one in storage. Both I believe are bricks now that the cloud services are dead. Maybe android 4 bricks if I wanted to really get creative. The path to custom ROM'ing these beasties was shaky at best, but I did have one done in a dual boot IIRC.

I have 4 controllers and always keep an eye out for possible uses even today.

So after actually using the #ouya controller for a little while last night. I found the following:

As most reviews say it's not great, part of that is due to it's budget. But maybe also poor design decisions.

The DPAD is terrible, I was struggling to do any type of diagonal control / button press.

Anyone else remember the #OUYA ? I still think the idea was a good one especially given the time it released.

I will never forget when Internet got hyped for the #ouya, basically an under-powered android device you connect to your TV. For only to end up in a massive disappointment because it turned out to be an under-powered android device you connect to your TV.

I did not see that one coming...

Turns out I’m a fair bit materialistic. My partner got me lovely late birthday / father’s day presents, including a #RaspberryPi 4, which is going to become the new #LibreELEC station, hopefully giving my #OUYA controllers a second life along the way. I’ve got a couple of old low-spec netbooks that I keep repurposing, but running out of ideas. Thinking of trying #Freedombox on one of them. Any recommendation to make use of old, mildly dysfunctional lappies?
