  2. Headscale & Tailscale – Hassio Installation

There is a process to add Hassio (Home Assistant OS) to your Headscale network. Additionally, I wrote this blog post in French.
First, install the Tailscale add-on from the Add-on Store and enter the URL of our Headscale server in the “Login server” field on the configuration page.

    https://hs.xxxx.xxx

In the “info” part”, activate “Start on boot”, “Watchdog”, “Auto update” and “Show in sidebar”.

Click on Tailscale in the sidebar and authentication.
Go to the log of the Tailscale add-on to retrieve the authentication URL line.

    2024-05-09T10:53:48-04:00 INF home/runner/work/headscale/headscale/hscontrol/auth.go:27 > Successfully sent auth url: https://hs.xxxx.xxx/register/mkey:xxxxxxxxxx expiry=-62135596800 followup=https://hs.xxxx.xxx/register/mkey:xxxxxxxxxx machine_key=[P7Zx/] node=homeassistant node_key=[JqfVJ] node_key_old=

Retrieve the value of mkey, then open a terminal on the Headscale machine and execute this command:

docker exec headscale headscale nodes register --user USERNAME --key mkey:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To do this via the Headplane interface, on the “Machinery” page, click “Add Device”, add the character string mkey:xxx, choose the user and click “Register”.

That is, everything should work well now.

Adding Hassio to my Tailnet network allows me to access Home Assistant from the outside and also save my Home Assistant installation on my remote NAS. I don’t use the roads or the exit node of this node, I prefer to have this feature deployed in my VM Tailscale.

I invite you to read or return to the Headscale and Tailscale post.

  3. For Home Assistant users, if you have issues updating to Home Assistant Supervisor 2024.11.3, you aren't alone.

Edit: the problem got fixed, check my reply below. Thanks to all the contributors!

  4. I created an addon for #homeassistant last night that allows you to ship logs from your #hassio instance to somewhere else via #fluentbit: github.com/ablyler/ha-addon-fl

I am personally using this to send my logs to a local #openobserve instance: openobserve.ai

Danke, falls da jmd was weiß.

  8. So I've never found the climate control Switch for my works great in .

So I tweaked the component to add a button. And it worked straight away.

  9. Uh, oh! How do I free up some space? This is a 64GB card. Home Assistant has been running for months now. #homeassistant #hassio

  10. Gibts eine Webseite die hübsche / inhaltlich gehaltvolle / tolle Home Assistant Dashboards sammelt?

Wie sowas, wo Leute ihre Schreibtische oder Handy-Homescreens teilen.

    Brauche Inspiration!

  11. Today's fun little #hassio project: scanning my Sylvania "Lightify" luminares for the "powercalc" plugin. See: community.home-assistant.io/t/

  12. @rmondello I _think_ this worked a bit better in Technology Preview 162 when trying to log in to my local server. (I can’t be sure because I could not successfully enable in the tech preview.) I have HA MFA enabled (home-assistant.io/docs/authent). The login screen no longer gives me autofill issues the way it once did, but the MFA screen still does.

  13. I wish there was a #hassio app in the LG TV appstore.

  14. Boy, I sure wish I could figure out why my NAS and Home assistant pi stop responding every day. It might be time for an external log server...

  15. The SD-Card in the #HASSIO #RPI I set up for my parent's house has died. Annoying.

  16. This weekend I'll build a huge #smarthome update by replacing the #homematic_ip access point by an #CCU3. This way, climate control and intrusion alert will become cloudless.
This will become a hard act of work, nevertheless. But it will enable me to introduce light switch events to #homeassistant / #hassio and hence connect #tradfri and #teptron #move2 to the wall switches.

  17. Ah that's quite annoying. #HomeAssistant now required MDNS to work for it to be able to connect to Chrome Cast devices. Means I can't run HA on #k8s anymore. #hassio

  19. Ugh, not a fun evening, but necessary. Since is deprecating Hassbian, I spent the evening migrating my RasPi3 Hassbian setup to a shiny new RasPi4 instance...

I do like HassIO though. And it was an opportunity to clean up my configs before the panel installation starts. Which should be *real soon*, exciting :)

Busywork, but at least a bit productive :P
