This Tour is absolutely crazy!
-
I vote to bring back the zero crowds from the Covid year races because spectators can't be trusted to not be total dumbasses!
Hopefully none of the riders have bad injuries after that.

It's been a good couple of days for Ineos! Rodriguez rode really well today, but he definitely got that stage win thanks to Pogi & Jonas messing about, and if the crowd + motorbikes hadn't got in the way the race between them wouldn't have slowed up.
Real shame that such poor organisation hampered the racing. The ASO really should be doing better than that.

Race organisation a bit of a shambles on Col de Joux Plane. Race motorbikes blocking Pogi's attack and zero crowd control in the final kilometer of the climb robbed us of a dramatic finish which could have changed the race.
Motorbikes also obstructing the riders trying to chase back on as well.

Between watching Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves and getting caught up in the Baldur's Gate 3 hype the last few days I've decided now is also a good time to get back into watching #CriticalRole
I left off on campaign 2 episode 96 at some point at least over a year ago so trying to pick back up again is an interesting challenge to see what I can remember 😂
Was also trying to decide if I play one of the older Baldur's Gate games, but I might wait for 3

Cofidis suddenly the best French team?!? Ion Izagirre taking a very impressive second stage win for the team who hadn't won at the Tour in 14 years 🤯
The first half of the stage today was just madness, really no idea what Vingegaard & Jumbo's goal was of just refusing to let any break go even though it could very easily have backfired as Jonas was by himself for a lot of time.

CW: Tour de France - stage 10
Seems like I missed a bit of a crazy start to today's stage, but the last 70km or so that I saw gave us some great breakaway racing. No idea what MVDP and Wout where evening trying to do though.
This is the only thing that matters though, Pello Bilbao dedicating his victory to his friend.
"To believe that I had the good legs, that I could do the best for Gino.”
RIP Gino

CW: Giro Donne - stage 9
Chiara Consonni wrapping up this years Giro but taking a cracking sprint victory, she took that up early & had the power to hold everyone else off. Good way to sign off for her teammate Marta Bastianelli on her final race.
Crashes taking out a few riders made it a lot easier for AVV to take another Giro title, but it looks like it's setting up a real battle between her & Vollering at the Tour!

Absolutely gutted for Jorgenson to have been solo & looking so good on the final climb only to get caught in the last 500m and not even getting a top 3 :(
Phenominal climb by Woods though, he absolutely flew up that climb and showed just how good he can be in the maountains on his day
Pogi taking a few seconds back as well when I was a bit worried he was going to blow up due to the heat 🥵
GC Pidcock starting to appear?

CW: Giro Donne - stage 8
Blanka Vas really struggled during the cross season but in the last month or so she has definitely found her road legs. Stage win at the Tour de Suisse and now the Giro, as well as putting in some very strong performances as a domestique.
Draggy uphill finish for the women today, not dissimilar to the TDF sprint today. Vos went very early + had a mechanical? while Dygert likes taking all the wind so Vas took advantage of that

Just watching that final uphill sprint made my legs hurt, that looked absolutely brutal at the speed they did it!
Brilliant win for Mads Pedersen and Lidl-Trek who get him up perfectly. Philipsen taking a very impressive second, and Groenewegen very unlucky to not get third in a finish that I didn't expect would suit him at all.

Never particularly been a Cavendish fan, but that is a pretty horrible way to see his final Tour end
-
CW: Tour de France - stage 7
That was one of those finishing where I wish I had muted the commentary rather than listening to the over excited rantings from Kirby.
MVDP dropped Philipsen off a bit too early, but he played it very cool and while Cav looked like he had got the jump on everyone he just got blown out of the water once Philipsen launched
Felt like Jumbo actually made things more dangerous trying to keep Jonas at the front until 3km

AVV back to doing the traditional AVV thing of winning everything, but before her attack on the final climb pretty much everyone in the GC top 10 was having a go which made for great racing.
Labous looked very good today for DSM and looks to have at least secured a podium finish.
Realini in 3rd seems like a good result, but I think if she is going to the Tour she actually looks like she could have done with a break.

AVV putting in a very dominant performance today that must worry some of her rivals for the Tour, has she rediscovered her form that seems to be a bit missing in the spring?
Also, can we talk about Wiebes finishing second and outsprinting Lippert on a short steep climb that wouldn't have been out of place in the Ardennes?!?

Still in the middle of catching up with today's stage, but we could really have done without the tv cameras lingering on yesterday's stage winner Antonia Niedermaier after her crash :( Just hoping it was a facial injury that looked a lot worse than it actually was.
Also hope Urška Zigart makes a quick recovery as well after suffering a concussion from the same crash.
-
CW: Giro Donne - stage 5
No big mountain finishes in the Giro Donne this year, but the riders are making the most of the climbs to create some exciting racing! Definitely a lot more interesting that today's TDF stage.
Niedermaier taking her 1st WT win in very impressive style, and Canyon have apparently discovered how to win races at last! :o
Unfortunately, Longo Borghini had a very nasty crash on the final descent, thankfully no serious injuries.

CW: Giro Donne - stage 4
Also a shoutout for Fem Van Empel who has had a very good start to her first big pro stage race with some very consistent results in these first few stages, she only lost 40 seconds to the group of favourites on stage 2 when AVV dropped everyone and has been in the mix with the main peloton on stage 3 & 4
Oh and let's not forget Lorena Wiebes, who not only crushing everyone in sprints but also hanging with the climbers today!

That was a great bit of racing!
Ewers really kick started the action when she bridged over to Pluimers and then went solo to what looked like a good lead.
Persico tried on the desent but AVV went off after Ewers and Longo Borghini was the only one who could go with her. Once they caught Ewers it looked like the Italian was the strongest on the climb, but they together until the finish line with Borghini taking the sprint.

Not the sort of cycling news you want to see getting reported by the mainstream press, truly horrible to hear that #GinoMader has passed away after his crash yesterday :blobsad:
A very talented young rider who had been plagued with bad luck in the last few years, and someone who always came across as a genuinely nice person.
Thoughts are with his family, friends, team mates and all the peloton who knew him.
