  1. @Ravenblade86 I am also unsure about this transfer. Most because of the personal belief issue. But he is 22. People make mistakes. He distanced himself from it. And said that it’s out of context and that’s not who he is. Let’s give him a chance at least. Everyone will be watching though how #Nmecha does at #BVB :bvb:

  2. The new episode of Time Team that got released this evening on YouTube was fascinating. A two day rescue dig after finding another Anglo Saxon burial in the last hour of their previous Princely Burial episode with Operation Nightingale.

Helen and Jackie feel like they are really carrying the torch for the old Time Team crew as well.

  6. Some new reading material has arrived. Probably the next two on the physical reading list. Hadrian's Wall by Adrian Goldsworthy seems like a good starting point to get some reading in on the subject before my #hadrianswall trip later in the summer, and I've enjoyed his other histories that I've read.

And it unfortunately seems like a rather fitting time to read George Orwell's #1984GeorgeOrwell

  7. Poking my head in here again.

Wondering if anyone has done the #hadrianswall path has any idea about how feasible a little side quest to Vindolanda would be? Booked a short walking trip for later in the year and I'll be stopping in Once Brewed between days, but that's at the end of a 20km day and start of a 15km day.

  8. #BigGardenBirdWatch @RSPB done this morning in the calm after the storm. Plenty of birds in the garden, especially Chaffinches, but they were very nervous which made counting difficult. Having a Sparrow Hawk visit twice might explain it though 😂

Regular army of pheasants didn't show up, Long Tailed Tits which had been here earlier in the week didn't either. Very few Sparrows and Greenfinches that I could count, but did get a couple of Siskins.

Photo from a few days ago.

  9. Catching up with today's #cyclocross #X20badkamerstrofee from Lokeren now after getting myself totally cooked on stage 4 of the Tour of Watopia on #Zwift this morning.

I was on great form on Wednesday on the medium route and actually bumped my FTP up slightly with it, but this morning was just a sufferfest on the long route. Started great with a new PB on Hilly KOM without blowing the doors off, but the Titans Grove part of the route always seems to kill my legs.

  10. No need to worry about trying to catch up with the #M05BVB match later this evening by the looks of it 🤦‍♂️Always very nice of #BVB to have such bad performances to give me some extra free time when I can't watch the match live because I'm busy...

Seriously though, the away form coupled with an Emre Can disasterclass and the injury list means I'm not surprised.

Never got caught up in all the Pinot excitement over the years, but it was definitely exciting to see him going on a breakaway bid for the stage today, but in pretty typical Pinot fashion he fell short in the end.

The Pog vs Jonas battle was a bit odd, though I think Pog played it very smart when he saw Jonas was still going to watch him like a hawk.

Felix Gall showing again that he is one of the best pure climbers.

Final proper stage off the Tour (maybe next year we will get a final stage that isn't just a parade since it's not in Paris) and the end of what has been a very exciting 3 weeks of racing! Unfortunately the GC battle got snuffed out at the start of week, but we still got some unexpectedly exciting racing from "sprint stages" this week.

  13. CW: Tour de France - stage 18 & 19

Some people would almost make you think that breakaways never succeed anymore, but if you didn't think that was total rubbish beforehand I don't know how you could think it was the case after this TDF.

Defiant breakaway yesterday holding off the peloton with Asgreen saving Quicksteps Tour (Campenaerts needs thanks!) & today's stage looked total bonkers, but Mohoric, Asgreen & O'Connor just never stopped nailing it.

  14. CW: Tour de France - Stage 17

To be honest though? My overwhelming feeling is just disappointment for Pogi, it was hard watching how much he was suffering just on that final rise to the finish line :(

Any word on what happened? Has he just blown up? Or is he sick or something?

Vingegaard though has been incredible though, these last two days especially. The TT performance was outstanding, though it did remind me why I hate time trials lol

  15. CW: Tour de France - Stage 17

First things first, what a brilliant win by Felix Gall & AG2R! Biggest mountain stage of the Tour and from a breakaway that wasn't given much of a leash by the GC group, that was impressive! Also great to see how happy Ben O'Connor was for him.

His TT yesterday wasn't bad, but if he can improve that and most importantly his descending he could be a real GC contender.

  16. I vote to bring back the zero crowds from the Covid year races because spectators can't be trusted to not be total dumbasses!

Hopefully none of the riders have bad injuries after that.

  17. CW: Tour de France - stage 14

It's been a good couple of days for Ineos! Rodriguez rode really well today, but he definitely got that stage win thanks to Pogi & Jonas messing about, and if the crowd + motorbikes hadn't got in the way the race between them wouldn't have slowed up.

Real shame that such poor organisation hampered the racing. The ASO really should be doing better than that.

  18. CW: Tour de France - stage 14

Race organisation a bit of a shambles on Col de Joux Plane. Race motorbikes blocking Pogi's attack and zero crowd control in the final kilometer of the climb robbed us of a dramatic finish which could have changed the race.

Motorbikes also obstructing the riders trying to chase back on as well.

  19. Between watching Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves and getting caught up in the Baldur's Gate 3 hype the last few days I've decided now is also a good time to get back into watching #CriticalRole

I left off on campaign 2 episode 96 at some point at least over a year ago so trying to pick back up again is an interesting challenge to see what I can remember 😂

Was also trying to decide if I play one of the older Baldur's Gate games, but I might wait for 3

  20. CW: Tour de France - stage 12

Cofidis suddenly the best French team?!? Ion Izagirre taking a very impressive second stage win for the team who hadn't won at the Tour in 14 years 🤯

The first half of the stage today was just madness, really no idea what Vingegaard & Jumbo's goal was of just refusing to let any break go even though it could very easily have backfired as Jonas was by himself for a lot of time.

  21. CW: Tour de France - stage 10

Seems like I missed a bit of a crazy start to today's stage, but the last 70km or so that I saw gave us some great breakaway racing. No idea what MVDP and Wout where evening trying to do though.

This is the only thing that matters though, Pello Bilbao dedicating his victory to his friend.

"To believe that I had the good legs, that I could do the best for Gino.”

  22. CW: Giro Donne - stage 9

Chiara Consonni wrapping up this years Giro but taking a cracking sprint victory, she took that up early & had the power to hold everyone else off. Good way to sign off for her teammate Marta Bastianelli on her final race.

Crashes taking out a few riders made it a lot easier for AVV to take another Giro title, but it looks like it's setting up a real battle between her & Vollering at the Tour!

Absolutely gutted for Jorgenson to have been solo & looking so good on the final climb only to get caught in the last 500m and not even getting a top 3 :(

Phenominal climb by Woods though, he absolutely flew up that climb and showed just how good he can be in the maountains on his day

Pogi taking a few seconds back as well when I was a bit worried he was going to blow up due to the heat 🥵

    GC Pidcock starting to appear?

  24. CW: Giro Donne - stage 8

Blanka Vas really struggled during the cross season but in the last month or so she has definitely found her road legs. Stage win at the Tour de Suisse and now the Giro, as well as putting in some very strong performances as a domestique.

Draggy uphill finish for the women today, not dissimilar to the TDF sprint today. Vos went very early + had a mechanical? while Dygert likes taking all the wind so Vas took advantage of that

    #GiroDonne #WomensCycling #ProCycling #velophant

  25. CW: Tour de France - stage 8

Just watching that final uphill sprint made my legs hurt, that looked absolutely brutal at the speed they did it!

Brilliant win for Mads Pedersen and Lidl-Trek who get him up perfectly. Philipsen taking a very impressive second, and Groenewegen very unlucky to not get third in a finish that I didn't expect would suit him at all.

  26. CW: Tour de France - stage 8

Never particularly been a Cavendish fan, but that is a pretty horrible way to see his final Tour end

    #TourDeFrance #TDF #TDF23 #ProCycling #Velophant

  27. CW: Tour de France - stage 7

That was one of those finishing where I wish I had muted the commentary rather than listening to the over excited rantings from Kirby.

MVDP dropped Philipsen off a bit too early, but he played it very cool and while Cav looked like he had got the jump on everyone he just got blown out of the water once Philipsen launched

Felt like Jumbo actually made things more dangerous trying to keep Jonas at the front until 3km

  28. CW: Giro Donne - stage 7

AVV back to doing the traditional AVV thing of winning everything, but before her attack on the final climb pretty much everyone in the GC top 10 was having a go which made for great racing.

Labous looked very good today for DSM and looks to have at least secured a podium finish.

Realini in 3rd seems like a good result, but I think if she is going to the Tour she actually looks like she could have done with a break.

    #GiroDonne #WomensCycling #ProCycling #velophant

  29. CW: Giro Donne - stage 6

AVV putting in a very dominant performance today that must worry some of her rivals for the Tour, has she rediscovered her form that seems to be a bit missing in the spring?

Also, can we talk about Wiebes finishing second and outsprinting Lippert on a short steep climb that wouldn't have been out of place in the Ardennes?!?
