Dawno, dawno temu, jak chodziłem jeszcze do szkoły, często myślałem sobie, o tym czy innym przedmiocie: "Po co mi to? Tylko tracę czas na bzdury, których nigdy nie będę potrzebował. I jeszcze do tego psuje mi średnią." No i oczywiście byłem wielkim fanem idei takich jak współpraca szkół z przemysłem, etm.
Dziś wiem lepiej. Szkoła nie jest od tego, żeby dostarczać gotowych pracowników. Szkoła jest od tego, żeby dać człowiekowi szerszą perspektywę. Może z większości wiedzy nigdy nie skorzysta, może będzie tylko źle wspominał, nieważne. Ważne jest to, żeby nauczył się uczyć, rozumować, myśleć.
Jestem wielkim wrogiem tego, co dzieje się od lat ze szkolnictwem. Szkoły zmieniają się w taśmę produkcyjną — wrzucamy na nią dzieci, rzucamy w nie konkretną wiedzą i obserwujemy rezultat, egzaminujemy i klasyfikujemy. Oczekujemy, że na końcu taśmy dostaniemy bezmyślnego robola — gotowego do podjęcia zatrudnienia bez większego przeszkolenia.
Człowieka, którego jedynym celem w życiu będzie naprzemienne tyranie i konsumpcja. Metaforyczne chlanie piwska przed telewizorem i robienie kolejnych dzieci. Dzieci, które jak kolejne tryby wejdą w ten sam mechanizm, napędzając niekończący się wzrost gospodarczy, żeby tylko ten bezmyślny system nie upadł.

How are people supposed to deal with that? How can we distinguish a legitimate user who hit some URL from a scraper that distributes its operations over thousands of IP addresses?
